I wouldn't say it's really easy (at least not for me). I would say that it is "possible".

On biplaneworld I only managed to get 14.9 galactic credits (I wasn't allowed to change any more) so I never purchased an inf drive. How do I place buildings accurately?
When I try to build (e.g. a well) the building appears at one corner of the blue square. How do I move it to one of the other corners? The default seems to make the building appear partly in the road.

STocking of items
I think that it IS a good idea that you cannot stock your own food and drink. This makes for more interactions between players. It would be a shame if players didn't need to buy/sell from other players.
