Current State of Affairs Re: linux compatibility?

So, I have not played in a very long while. Probably not since 2008 or 2009, when I got a laptop that actually had some cpu and gpu power (my old desktop that had TU and my world client had 512 mb ram and 60 gb storage space. bought it in 2002), and decided that migrating TU and the world server would have been a hassle. I think I fiddled with my world for a little bit for a year or so past that point. And then I started using Linux Mint (a derivation of Ubuntu) almost exclusively. And that was the end of that. On a whim this afternoon, I thought I'd check up on the site to see what was new with my once-favorite game. And I am impressed. And excited. And itching to return. The only thing is, I have embraced the world of Linux so thoroughly that even Ubuntu with its Gnome desktop seems too traditional for me (I have more or less become a whore to the Enlightenment environment), though I still maintain an up-to-date Linux Mint installation for the sake of its wide functionality. As a result, I haven't used the Windows 7 installation on my machine more than 4 or 5 times since I bought my current laptop a year ago. I saw in a forum search that a few years ago people reported positive results running both the client and server on Ubuntu using Wine, however, things can change quite a bit in 2 years. Does anybody know what the current state of affairs is with regard to compatibility with Wine? I would absolutely love to return, but if it means rebooting into Windows, then that's too high a price for me.

Back again,
