seriously, wtf am i doing wrong? i've seen other worlds where the generator looks great, but it isn't on zoric.
all i'm simply trying to do is texture 1/4th of the map with one texture (water), and the rest to look like snow. yet all i get is snow, and yellow water.
its set up so that:
tex 1 height = 95 (height of the flat land)
tex 2 height = 90 (middle of the slope between water and snow)
tex 3 height = 85 (water level)
tex 4 height = 1
according to the guide, everything above the height of tex 1 = tex one. stuff between the height of tex 2 and 1 = a blend of 1 and 2. stuff between 2 and 3 = a blend between 2 and 3.
tex 1 is set to snow. it looks fine
tex 2 is set to water texture. the game should blend the white snow and blue water
tex 3 is set to water texture. it should blend the water and the water to make...no change
tex 4 is set to water texture. it should blend the water and the water to make...no change
only problem is that EVERYTHING except the snow looks yellow. like urine or mustard.
then other random times when i'm messing with it, i'll just have black instead of one of the textures.
or it'll be an ugly green vomit with blue specks everywhere.
or all of texture 1 everywhere and no other texture displayed
autotexture gen = horridly ugly
Yeh, I'm afraid it's fairly broken at the moment. I've been through it all before and can't remember the exact details (or even if I discussed it here or just with folk on a world somewhere).
I've a feeling autogen got broken in the last update, along with a whole bunch of other stuff :)
One thing you might try zar... maybe revert to a slightly older client version and try generating the landscape that way. Assuming you want to create texmaps, not just do autogen on the fly, that might do the trick. I've been meaning to try it for a while.

Code: Select all
Oh autogen, it used to work
Nice blended grass and sand and dirt
Oh autogen, it used to work
And now it don't work no more, no more
