A work-in-progress car to mess about with

Post by Fooli »

Here's something I've been working on in odd moments, mostly to keep my eye in. Not that it was ever particularly "in". Anyway...

It's a car I made "properly" - that is, using blueprints as a guide. First time I've done that... it's harder than it should be but you do end up with something that looks slightly like what you intended.

As I'm generally awkward I decided to choose a car almost no-one would want to drive :] None of your lamboporky ferrarimartin concept car nonsense here. Meet...

...a 1958 Ford Anglia 150E. Or something a bit like it. A man's car. Well, an old man's car. It's not 100% accurate but it's close enough for me.

This zip file here has the model, a jpg texture if you just wanna use it on a world (could probably do with downsizing); a bitmap, if you want to customise it (and then save as jpg..); and the texture template file, should you want to start from scratch. The zip is about 3.5Mb.

My texture is, as ever, of the "quick 'n' dirty testing quality" school (ie the best I can do). Feel free to improve it, customise it or just laugh at it :] There's plenty of room for some logos and what have you, and the mapping is kinda ok if you want to just start it from scratch. If you feck about with it, post some screenies here!

The model's relatively high poly but I'll sort out a LoD version at some point soon.

You have... most likely you need to examine your export process. It's a bit fiddly but you can preserve Gmax smoothing groups on export.
