After some pondering and work here is the current rundown on what will be going on Saturday.
(Special thanks to Cyborg who helped me bounce ideas around.)
Fightnight Events:
Quick List:
Zoric Race
Operation Space Convoy
Operation Dwarven Thunder (Mining event)
Battle Royale
Overall Rules:
1)Have Fun!
2)Don't be a jerk.
3)Have some more fun!
A brief note: in the interest of making this go as smoothly as possible, I'm asking that a few experienced players volunteer to be team captains for the space events. Captains will be involved in dividing teams and will (assuming the chat server is up) organize communication channels between members of a team. Depending on how things work out, teams and captains may remain the same for all the space events or they may be reshuffled for the sake of fairness and variety between events.
Current Captain list:
ElderGod
All-TU Race:
General Description: The Fightnight will open with a massive race on Zoric at 8PM EST. All are invited to participate. Admission is free. I'm planning to record a video of the race so the winner will receive unsurpassed glory, prestige and bragging rights, plus I'll reward the top racers with a little bit of space credits once we get into Space.
Details: There will be an official practice run briefly preceding the race so any inexperienced or rusty driver can hone their skills. Everyone is welcome to practice on their own as much as they wish before we begin. We're planning to have everyone in the same vehicle so the race will be fair. (no upgrades etc.)
Those not wishing to participate in the race (although I implore everyone to do so) can join me in getting a bird's-eye view of the action from one of the few towers that loom over the track.
Rules:
Everyone must have the same vehicle when participating in the race.
No upgrades or other items will be allowed.
Those not participating in the race should be off the track.
Admission is free all players will be provided with a vehicle.
Practice Run: 3 laps
Featured Race: 5 laps
Prizes: 5000cr for 1st place win, 3000cr for 2nd, 2000cr for 3rd.
Moderator: (Zaroba and Myself, plus any of zar's gods who are interested)
Space Convoy:
General Description: Team will attempt to deliver a load of waters to the opposing team's goal (space station).
Details: We will proceed to M-342. All players can warp there using their Finite drive and selecting "Imperial". Players will be divided into two teams. The teams will be given a respective space station they must guard. One team will initially be assigned to be the convoy and will choose a player amongst themselves to be the cargo carrier who will purchase a load of waters.
All the members of each team must start the round inside their assigned space station. Once the countdown has finished, the convoy team will attempt to escort the cargo carrier to the opposing station. The opposing team (the attackers) will be heading straight at them and should try to intercept the cargo (by killing the carrier) and haul it to the convoy team's space station. The convoy team can attempt to recover the cargo and complete their mission along the way. Their will be two rounds (with the teams alternating between convoy and attacker) and a possible tie-breaker round with a coin flip to determine position.
Rules:
All players must be in the space station of their team at the beginning of the round. I will lock players in to ensure this happens.
Only a designated member of the convoy can waters.
No player may buy a load of waters during a round or in anyway attempt to disrupt the event. (Ex. flying out of the system with the cargo) Such players will be banned from the remainder of the fightnight and their names will be listed here on a wall of shame.
Bounties and Shields will be turned off.
Players are permitted to use any weapon or defense in their arsenal at their own expense. EMs and Gamma Bursts may be used but purchasing more can only be done at in-system space stations. Once these are gone no more can be purchased for the rest of the fightnight. So use them strategically.
I'm hoping there will be plenty of missiles and ECMs at Imperial to keep everyone stocked. If these run out I will provide a brief time between rounds for them to be purchased elsewhere. No leaving the system during a round.
No warp drives can be used. This is to promote fairness. The exception would be if you die and you have an infimp, you are expected to warp back to your team's space station and dock before engaging in combat (assuming you didn't automatically do this upon dieing).
You are not allowed to purchase weapons from the opposing team's space station. In fact, the only person on your team that should ever dock there is the current cargo carrier.
Rounds: 2 with a possible Tie-breaker
Prizes: 30,000cr to be divided amongst the winning team at their discretion.
Moderators: Fhko and designated Team Captains.
Mining Event:
General Description: Two teams of players will attempt to end up with the most mined resources.
Details: Players will mine asteroids and steal from other players to try to end up with the most net resources (not including water and Uridium) at the end of 15 minutes. Any player without a mining kit should just harass those that do with their lasers.
All players should start in a designated region of space and are not permitted to fire weapons for the first three minutes (a timer will be used).
Rules:
Players meet around me in the middle of space. A brief check of empty hauls will be done.
Everyone must stay within a reasonable distance from the sun. There should be no reason for you to go outside the radius of the outermost planet.
No one should leave the system during the event
There is only one scheduled round. (although if everyone is still hyped by the end we can have an encore of any event)
Prizes: 20,000cr for the winning team.
Moderators: Fhko and Team Captains
Battle Royale:
General Description: Last team with a person standing is the winner.
Details: Will begin similar to Space Convoy, excluding the cargo. Teams will engage in a full on war until one team is totally defeated. Any player that dies is expected to remain in a space station until the battle is over. (Don't make me lock you! )
Rules:
1)Kill the other team
2)Don't get killed
3)Be gracious in defeat.
Prizes: 50,000cr for the winning team
Commemorative Screenshot: If everyone isn't desperate to leave by the end, I'd like to get a group screenshot of everyone involved in the Fightnight and maybe a special winners' shot. It'll be something neat to show your grandkids when TU is an international hit.

I actually personally attended the first and second fightnights so I'm not sure how much they can help me over what I already remember. I think part of carrying out a successful fightnight is having a Star System God who can do teams and clear bounties and shields.
Btw I already submitted a home page news blurb to be reviewed and posted by the staff. It's up to one of them to get on the ball and put it up.

In fact there were about 20 news articles awaiting approval, because apparently our "news article waiting for approval" email alert system has broken. Oh good.
Fortunately all 20 were either too old, too boring or just too inappropriate to post, and have been deleted.
I'd be happy to announce fight night on the homepage when you've finalised all the details - ie, we post when & where. As far as I can tell the where is still tbc.
I can sort out the system guardian stuff for you - I'll need reminding nearer the time, just in case.

Yay. Mehr Power es sehr gut. (I'm learning German)
That's great. Could I get a quick list of all the abilities I will have as a system guardian. It would help immensely in figuring out what I can and can't do as far as events.
Update: (Laughs like a school girl) I renamed my world "Imperial" so I now have control of the Fipro targeting system and can have newbies go anywhere. (laughs some more) I should have thought of this before!
I put it down on a nice little isolated system with an Anarchy planet with tons of missiles and ECMs. Hopefully this will make it extremely easy for even the most basic ships to join in the fun.

Ok FHKO, this was written by Mit himself to CoolBiker:
http://www.theuniversal.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5217Mit wrote:(.. and anyone else who has similar ideas).
I'm in the process of adding some stuff to make handling of events like the recent fight night a bit easier (as mentioned in chat).
The gal staff now have an option to set a player as the 'Guardian' of a system in space. The guardian will have access to a range of commands, such as..
!sysmsg <MSG>
Sends a special 'Guardian' message to everyone in the starsystem
!sysshields <ON/OFF>
Activates or deactivates shields for everyone in the starystem
!sysbounties <ON/OFF>
Activates or deactivates bounties for everyone in the starystem
!syskick <NAME>
Kicks the named player from the starsystem
!syssendstation <NAME> <PLANET_NAME>
Sends the player to the spacestation of the planet named
!syssendallstation <PLANET_NAME>
Sends all players in the starsystem to the spacestation of the planet named
!sysgame <NUM>
Activates a preset systemwide game (to be implemented later)
!syssetteam <NAME> <NUM>
Sets the team number for the player
!syslockstation <NAME> <PLANET_NAME>
Locks the player in the spacestation of the planet named.
!syslockallstation <PLANET_NAME>
Locks all players in the spacestation of the planet
!sysunlock <NAME>
Unlocks a player from a spacestation
!sysunlockall
Unlocks all players from the spacestation
!sysgrantcredits <NAME> <AMOUNT>
grants galcash to the named player. The cash comes from the Guardian's wealth.
!sysgrantitem <NAME> <AMOUNT> <ITEM_NAME>
'grants' an item to the named player. The item comes from the Guardian's inventory
!sysban <NAME>
(temporarily) ban a player from entering the starsystem
!sysbanweapons <NAME>
Stops a player from using weapons in the system
!systimer <SECONDS>
Activates a countdown timer for everyone in the system
(The various commands like !sysban that have a lasting effect will stay active only as long as the guardian is online and in the system).
Some of these will be available in 0.50.5 - If theres any other Guardian commands you'd like (of a similar nature to these) lemme know.
Written by CoolBiker. I think this was the first one if I remember correctly.
On saturday 10th february there will be a fight night in the megacityone system for anyone old or new.
doesnt matter if u r new to the game, come along.
several prizes, the top one being roughly 3500 space credits (enough to buy a gal freighter Smile ) .
players will b organised according to abilities.
the night will consist of 2 parts.
1. at least 3 ships with cargo will b there waiting to b hunted down for their cargo. anything u win u get to keep.
2. when all cargo has been won and sold there will b a fight between all players versus the ships that had the cargo.
ever wanted to destroy a galaxy cruiser ? well nows ur chance Smile
its rumoured an alien megascout or two will b there with cargo also
the event will start at 9pm greenwich mean time
any questions post here or ask coolbiker - smurfy - vinishal
rich players needed to police the event
lastly - mit has said he will donate ps2 games as prizes on top of the cargo if at least 10 players turn up.
max credits to participate in the fight for the cargo is 5000cr
oh and if anyone knows how to take a screenshot let me know - cos mit requires one as proof
copied the commands to http://www.tuwr.net/tuwr/pmwiki.php?n=G ... nds.Galaxy for future reference
I won't be able to make it sorry. And I have to leave the game again, personal reasons. Very sorry guys. I feel like an arsehole for doing this, but..........something unexpected popped up. My life is crazy like this, one day I'm at one place relaxed, the next hour I'm rushing.
Until I can return. :-/

As a follow-up request I'd like to point out that it will be easier to coordinate the event if the other three planets in M-342 aren't unknowns and ask that anyone who has an unregistered world place it on one of the available planets sometime before the fightnight. This is a win-win situation since there will probably be a large group of people wanting to play somewhere after the Fightnight is done.
And yes, Fooli, M-342 is the system I will need guardianness in.
If the chat server could also, somehow come on-line for the night that would be much appreciated.
