Mit/Fooli/MagicFinger - question about 2 worlds

I recently came across zipped full instillations of Mechzone and The Republic.
I was able to get them running easily after updating the server version, server files, and config files. and can easily land on them and they look complete. Both are already registered and have there own regi.dat files so they don't need reregistration.
these are 2 worlds that could easily be running just for the sake of having more available worlds. Both were owned by DeVice and since he's not around anymore, I was wondering if there were any complaints to me running them since mechzone is still in the galaxy so might as well have it running, and a few have been asking about the republic lately.
Mechzone is still in the galaxy, and if i bring up the server it shows as online.
as for The Republic, somebody would have to add it back to the galaxy. its # is 22227000
also have no problem with going threw them with a fine tooth comb to make sure they still work as intended.

As long as we don't have GPR involved, and the world stays as it is (economy, settings etc) I don't see why not.
From memory, MechZone never really worked that well, but it's somewhere else to visit at least. Having The Republic back up would be nice (wasn't that the point of Syv?... but anyway). It worked quite well as it was.
I did a bunch of model updates for it that never made it to the last version, so maybe you could add those in too. Links are in
this post.

i could easily add some things to mechzone to make it work better as a mech combat ctf game if wanted.
syv wasn't the same as the republic. syv was a much faster running copy of it (hours instead of days), which was lacking a lot of the complexity of the republic. it had self stock, no need for jobs, the buildings didn't collapse easily, and a few other minor alterations to make it very very much easier then republic and allow solo play instead of the republics requirement to have more then a few people playing to beat it.
plus, syv has been down for a little while now. mit was running it, wasn't he?

i landed on mechzone today and saw something that looked like a lava eruption, is this a model or a staticarea?

the sparkley thing coming up from the ground?
its a flag you have to drive threw to claim it foryour team.
speaking of which, anybody know how to add more of those fountain flags that change color based on the team that goes threw them? doesn't seem to be anything in the command listings for a 'place fountain flag here' command.

a flag? is this flag an uploadable model? or is it a client generated a staticarea?
I would like to use this "fountain" for the magma plume model on xebec. if possible id like to get one that stays orange and doesnt change from orange to blue, can u help? that would make my volcano look so much more cool!!!

found it. its .crowflag
as for not having them change, .addeffect might work to display the same effect.
fooli, question about the 'change' part.
The Republic shouldn't need to be changed, since its already a well designed world. if naything, it would just be model updates using those new models you linked.
but as for MechZone, 1 flag, two teams with spawn points almost next to it, and the 1 mech. it doesn't provide for much of a world. so, while keeping the mech themed capture the flag style, is there anything against me doing minor changes to expand on the desirability of the world while still keeping it simple and a good place to learn basic controls?
really the only things i have interest in are:
- expanding the map from being a small island to use the whole map - needed anyway to stop the water flashing threw the landscape bug, but also provides a greater play area
- changing from 1 flag to 5 flags - one in center, 1 at each corner
- changing the team spawn points to be top center and bottom center of the map instead of having them both nearly next to each other in the center - lets players move about and gives space to fight.
- increasing the number of mechs from 1 to 5 - theres the 3 regular mechs, and the android guy which can be the default, and the spider model should be easy to make look like a mech - all the models will still be roughly the same size and they will all have the same settings, so it'll just provide variety based on what a player wants.
- adding some simple decorations - billboard with play instructions, spawn point decorations like fences/walls to keep opposing team out, maybe fences near the flags to make them look like key strategic locations.
most of the above is implemented on the current one for testing purposes and it can easily be reverted back to the original small design if wanted. the world is up now too if you want to come by and take a look and comment.

If I may say, I think Junkyard should be given to Zaroba too, sence the owner isnt around either.

lol, i can't just claim other peoples worlds.
besides, junkyard is owned by Junk and he's still around. he owns planitia which is running.
republic and mechzone were worlds owned by a staff member (DeVice) that had at one point made them available to anybody who wanted to use them to start a world. also, i wont claim to actually own either world. as far as I'm concerned I am running them for device and for the sake of keeping active worlds in space.

just incase anyones reading this, to get that lavalike fountain effect it is indeed .crowflag
also, in *settings>subgames>flag game mode must be set to 4 or 5 or else the crowflag willl appear as a floating circle. the color stays orange as long as no teams are set up
the fountain appears on the southeast corner of the tile you're currently on when you type the command.
you guys r gonna #$%* yourselves when you see my volcano. i managed to set down about a hundred of those lava fountains and it didnt seem to make any impact on my FPS

it'll look good until somebody types .team 1 and drives threw em to make a trail of blue ones
oh, if your still having trouble with getting control to open the menus,
try going into *settings->Subgame Settings and set Weapon Control Mode to 0.
some of its modes disable the control key.

yeah, problem is that its gotta be on weapons control mode 8 so my ninja can jump and also use his sword. and so my magmasuit can jetpack and also use his flamethrower.
so in my welcome image it will instruct ppl that ctrl doesnt access buildings and that they need to click on the buildings icon which is on the top left of the screen.
any way i can disable ppl from setting themselves in a team?
