Pirate Words

Post by lordmyrth »

Here are some of the more commonly used terms, found in space...

Nub/Newb/Noob - Easy prey, unskilled, an idiot. Used in referance to any of those, most of the time as an insult.

Beginner/I'm New - A new player. An out of character term used to say "Hey, I know little about this game. Would someone that's not a regularly schedualed prick help me out?"

Skeet - Those cute little targets that fly out of space stations. Just makes you wanna yell, "Pull!" Used in referance to Interplanetary Shuttles.

Fatboy/Cargo Ship - A very slow, and very slow, and not so fast ship that carries a large load of cargo. The backbone of most trading communities. A favorite target amongst pirates, since they do not come standardly equipped with shields. Slow to manuver as well.

Pew pew - A univeral greeting, usually signaled by bouncing a couple laser blasts off one's shields. A great way to run up and say Hi to someone in the middle of a leg of their trade route. Warning: Sometimes can be fatal to less advanced ships.

Stargate - A frisbee sized ring in space, designed to transport a ship from one starsystem to another. So far, all discovered stargates are stable, but all do not have two way transportation. No need to dial anything, just run into it, assuming you can see the needle in the haystack.

Station - A wheel looking object where lots of ships fly into and out of. A favorite hunting point for innerplanetary pirates.

KB - A dog amongst wolves. Likes to lay badly disguised ambushes in the form of "I'm AFK" messages. Also attempts to play dead, by claiming to be offline, which fools only himself. Serious pirates smile, pat him on his head, and move along. To quote a famous book, "Mostly harmless."

AIF - Ariya Imperial Federation. A defense force, sworn to hunt down and eliminate pirates. Go Team!

SR - Space Raiders. A Pirate group dedicated to hunting down galactic credits, and returning them to their rightful owners. Them. Harr...

GR - A trade group. As of this time, their full name is unknown to me.

MIT - The GOD amongst us space fairing beings. Suspected to be the Male counterpart to the Mother Alien. Fear it.

If you want to define this 'war' by who can mob around at and oumissile someone's ecm's, maybe SR will keep an upper hand there. Myself, i would rather broaden the aspects of this 'war' to include more than just who might be able to corner who first and get the last shot in. Bring your war to the broader aspects of the game. If you want to evaluate who might be 'the better party' or whatever in a game, you have to take into account more than just lobbing missiles and lazers. I would love to see AIF's prestige reign be broken.

Hey, if you wanna convince MIT to impliment and program Capital class ships of war, I'm all for it. I'll build up and save up my cash, and go buy a battleship.

And then, I shall reign down Hell upon thee.

thats really not a suprise. especially since the people who go on about space being so good, easy, and safe are the pirates themselves.

Well...yah don't hear about sharks complaining about sharks, do yah?

However, even I, the infamous NoobKiller has backed off a bit, and gone trading. However...Scorpion by name, Scorpion by nature. I still gotta stab that frog once in a while. >.<

Just to clear myself, I will say that I have never attacked a newby with or without cargo unless the newb had been keeping me on red alert for long periods of time or had fired at me in open space previously. My last 6-7 cargo steals have all been of 20k-160k.

While this might have made a person leave ( although I doubt it ), 20k is more then enough credits to be an experienced trader in space and be wary of certain people with reputations.

With this new guild movement that has shown up recently, nobody is safe when trading and it doesn't even matter what type of ship you have. Players with 300k and a Gal Cruiser can be reduced to single digits in a matter of minutes. I doubt players who experience this would like to take the 20 or whatever hours it takes again to regain their fortune and I can't blame them.

Excluding the few SR attacks and this one, the majority of the newb killing in this game has been newb vs. newb. People who exclusively play in space often get bored and fire at newbs for their entertainment . Only way to combat this problem would be to raise bounties. Unless you have over 300k, you have a good chance of losing all of your fortune at these times.

To get rid of this newb killing prob, I say to raise bounties to be much, much, much more punishing. As someone proposed in another thread like 20% of your overall creds and it builds up from there. Would make things much more interesting.

I TOTALY agree with you kb. Most of the noob killing is noob vs noob. SR has attacked noob a few times, I admit it but it is minimal compared to the noob vs noob killing. I sometimes stay in the federation system and I see a lot of this, noobs with cargo transport attacking others with shuttles. And also insulting each other.

I mostly help noobs when I can, sometime I have killed one but it is very rare, and as seing that the noob prob is rising again, I wont even kill one anymore, I will kill none.

Some of them just start to insult you or someone for no reason, we kill them and then they complain and leave. But next time I will just ignore them and leave the system.

So now you are calling me an asshole? What's up with that? :? And I dont make their gameplay miserable, some new comer ( noobs) just come into the game insulting anyone and saying the game has horrible graphics. If they dont like the game they should leave but not insult the comunity in game and the game.

Zar you got a grudge on me or something? I see you have been quoting most of my post lately and always have to say something about them that can insult me.

lol, no, you misunderstood.

by complete immature a-holes, i mean the newbs that come in and curse at people for absolutly no reason. like you said, they come in, hate the game and start insulting people for hanging around it. i completly agree, if they hate the game then they should just leave. its even one of zorics rules. its written somehting along the lines of 'no being an a-hole: if you don't like the world or game, just leave instead of causing trouble'

i have no grudge against you, you have done nothing to me to make me dislike you. the post quoting and replies is just due to us having different opinions about things. i mostly prefer economy only and fighting for fun (meaning without anything to lose), while you seem to like space more and pirating.
