Guild ran stations, witch means if a world owner is in a guild and well there at war. they can put in the targeted players username and when that player go's near the station they get destroyed
i think it would bring more donations to get worlds

well not really, when this game's gets a larger pop i wont be playing space, anyways for this to happen reg owners would need to build a world, witch means more players will come to the game = money for mit = more quest and ingame stuff will be added
also this kind of thing could bring about player ran stations, more ships..

Other side of the coin...
This is a free game. The appeal of it is we spend no money to DL and play. Most people don't want to spend money to play games, nor would they care to even spend the $5 to register a world.
There's a pirates guild. Which REQUIRES you to have a pirate ship to join. Ain't no way in hell I'm selling my Alien Freighter, GalFreighter, or Megascout, to just get a pirate ship to join the guild, to then go back to a new, better ship.
However, if people register can register their own systems, will there be a Pirate area? As in pirate ships flying around, shooting at anyone not in pirate ships?
How about a The Free Merchant Systems? Trade ships moving around, some with and some without escorts.
The point is, if players can snatch up all the areas, then some players will NEVER be able to land again. It won't be a space game, it'll be "Who's friend do you wanna be?" There will need to be areas that are neutral, hostile, and friendly to the various factions.
Military Registration: Free movement through Military, Police, and Federal space.
Criminal Record: Free movement through Pirate
Traders Guild: Free movement through Mercenary and Merchant areas.
Military Registration: Pirates are auto-hostile. Traders are neutral. Mercenaries are occasionally hostile.
Criminal Record: Police, Military, and Federal are auto-hostile. Mercenaries are occasionally hostile.

The Game is about SPACE, with the ability to build your own world if you wanted to. It's not called The Planet, With Space Too! Space life isn't an option, it's the FOCUS.
How do you get to a new planet? Through space.
How do you learn about new planets? Through space.
How do you get money to get InfImp? Through Space.
The Galaxtic economy will not be planet driven, it's space driven. If players are allowed to effect the galactic economy from the planets, there's nothing stopping one registered planet from setting up his planet to pour out sheckles or whatever at an ungodly galactic exchange. Thus, he could set his lowest coin to be worth 1000 galactic credits, make 1000 on planet in an hour, and then launch with a million credits.
"But the GM's won't allow that." Bullshit. It's that players planet, he paid for it, he can make it however the hell he wants.
I point out the above, even off topic, cause I KNOW some idiot is gonna say "The game isn't about space." Bullshit.
So there...space equality. Ruin your planet how you wish, leave my space alone with your stupid planetary economics.

call me an idiot, but i disagree.. to an extent... Space isnt 'the game', its just al part of the whole experience. 98% of all Galactic Prestige is obtained through planet play.
you space ppl may think GPR is useless to you, but give it some time. I have a feeling that planetary experience will soon have an impact (maybe not a detrimental impact, but, will effect, nonetheless).
Sure, any world owner can do what they want with their planet, be it a planet easy to get tons of money, or something that actually takes work to be successful on, but thats on them. I agree that planets economy shouldnt impact the galactic economy 100%, but slowly, things are coming togeather. Are you aware of the history of the game? Hell, a couple years ago you couldnt even SEE other players in space, and the space trading aspect of the game was limited to the few systems we could access with our lv4 stardrive. Space has only started to recently get hardcore focus on development. Ive seen the game through many changes... others currently around can attest as well, the game isnt 'all about space'. I remember a time when you cashed in planet sheckles for galactic credits.
call me an idiot all ya want, but the bottome line... space is ONLY A PART of the whole galactical experience of TU.

As the neutral rep., all i have to say is it's like a coin; half of it is tails, the other half is heads. Same applies to TU; half of the game is becoming rich in space w/ all the cool gagdets and stuff, and the other half is becoming rich on planets so ur name can be known.
When the game was still A-Tractor, it must have been very boring w/o the ability to fly into space and play other planets. but imagine there were no planets and only space. Then the game would STILL be boring bcuz peeps cant land on planets and make money and enjoy the game on a different level.
Lastly, TU is a delicate balance of space and planets, and one w/o the other would be a very, very dull game indeed. u can compare it something like the ying & yang .

when a-tractor first came out there was no space, the worlds where the focus. now since the Dev team introduced this whole new playing field (also known as space) players will now enjoy the game even more.
to prove this, let me tell u a story. It was a dark, and stormy night and i posted a post on MMORPG.com, mentioning the universal as a free side game, other than pay-play games. the peep who replyed (dont ask i forgot his name) said that he played it when there was no space. obviously, he got bored and just stopped. and i went merriy along playing an updated game i know he missed out on.
when u think about which is most of the gaem which is not, remember YING & YANG and that both aspects r equal.

so...the game is all about space eh?
heres a few questions for you
is this space as developed as the worlds?
can you fully customize it?
does it have the level of programing of the worlds?
do you HAVE to goto space to play worlds?
the answer to the above 4 is: no
in any advertising or info about the game, which gets more emphisis?
which gets more time put into coding?
which has more features requested put in?
which has been around longer?
which has more places to play?
which has more things to do?
the answer to the above 6 is: Worlds
you can use the A-Tractor client to connect to worlds that are on the fi-pro drive without going into space at all.
also, space is no different then a world, the stuff people love most about space can easily be replicated on a world. trading, bounties, fighting, guilds, shields, 'safe' zones, different vehicles to use (and a bunch of other things) can all be replicated on a world to pretty much the same level that they are in space. in fact, worlds can even give a much greater variety of the stuff then space can give. plus, instead of only 1 place to play, theres many.
and...(mit would have to confirm) isn't the long term, eventual overall plan for space/worlds to HAVE the whole space economy drivin by the worlds and what they do?
looking at the above, the game would infact be based more around worlds.
but, when it comes down to it, the game isn't based around space or the worlds.
you could in fact, look at space and worlds as completely different games under one client. the only thing that really links them currently is gpr.
its ok though, i don't blame you for thinking the game is only about space. afterall, you probably don't have any experience playing worlds, nor do you own one. to fully understand how complex a world is and how much effort was put into making them, you'd pretty much have to own one. you shouldn't talk about something if you don't know about it yourself

From the 'about' page:
Space is hardly mentioned at all. The game is about the worlds. The Universal is a unique, massively multiplayer online game set in a virtual universe of realtime 3d worlds, owned and run by players.
You start in a single star system with a range of worlds to explore. By playing on worlds you can improve your in-game status and wealth, trade, upgrade your spaceship, fly to new star systems and - well, that depends on what you find there...
Customisable worlds
Each world in the galaxy is totally customisable, offering a huge range of different challenges for all kinds of PC gamers.
Some have complex economies that encourage player co-operation and competition. Some are worlds at war where you’ll need to stay sharp to stay alive. There are team games, racing games, cricket, hornball, pub games and more. Or you can just kick back and relax, chat, listen to music, and sit on a hill watching monkeys playing in the sun.
Free to play
The Universal is free to play, and we intend it to remain that way. In future you'll be able to buy your own world in the galaxy. We’re constantly updating the game with new features and content, and with players building their own virtual worlds, The Universal gets more and more varied and challenging as the galaxy grows.

Come on people, you've made your point and he appears to be at least slightly incorrect. Your acting like this is a court case here! Give the man some peace, I'm sure he will either continue debating or agree with you. Besides, for him, Space probably is a larger factor of the game, I've always thought of it on how you play. When I used to just hug Zoric, space wasn't a large factor except landing, now, Space and Planets are about equal. I don't think there is any right or wrong answer to that.
