need to directory where the server is installed and open the serverconfig.txt file and next to the OWNER= line type your ingame name. then when you go into the world it'll say "you have been recognised as the owner of this world and deified". if it doesen't, then type *makeowner if you get kicked, you either typed in the wrong name or edited the wrong file.

Now I'm unable to upload certain things to my models. I have a few things, but not all of them show up when I use the building model tool. I open the BLDGS folder, and theres all kinds of models and textures, but not all of them are shown when I want to set them to my world.

First you need to set up different types of buildings using the building data (bdat) editor; next, you assign a model to each building type using the buildings editor in the world server; finally, you can put them on your world.

This thread will probably help you.

Well I'm not trying to make my own buildings at the moment, its that I'm trying to get the models and textures to appear in the building editor tool. There are a lot of models and textures in that area, but not all of them show up.
I think it may be due to my photo shop. It modifies all my images from .bmp to PhotoshopDeluxe.bmp and I dont know how to reverse this.

Um, er... crossed lines, I think. Possibly with me rather than you :) Lemme try to be more comprehensive (and comprehensible):

Your world has a buildings.dat file. It tells the world what properties each type of building has. You make that file using BuildingsData.exe.

Your world server loads that file to sort out the characteristics of each type of building (whether it's retail, ornamental, what it buys and sells, etc etc)

Next, you have a bunch of models and texture files in your world's /data folder. You tell the world to use this or that model/texture for each type of building by using the Buildings Editor tool in the world server's /tools menu.

The list of building types shown in the Buildings Editor tool is the same as the list of buildings you set up in the buildings.dat file, using BuildingsData.exe.

The list of models/textures shown in the Buildings Editor tool, when you click a building type, then click "change model", is the same as the list of models/textures in your world's /data folder.

If you think the list is different, either you've got something seriously wrong with your game install or (most likely) you're getting confused with the world's /data folder and your client's /data folder. The clients folder stores every model/texture that comes with the basic game install, and every model/texture you download by visiting other worlds. The world server ignores that completely. it only cares about the stuff in the main /data folder, which lives in the root. For example, on my system, my world's data folder is /The Universal/Data, and mu world's building files live in The Universal/Data/Models/Bldgs.

I'm not sure why photoshop would want to rename all your image files, but as long as it's saving them as proper bitmap files (.bmp - either RGB or RLE), or .jpg, or .tif, or .pngs (I think we support tifs and pngs), there won't be a problem. The worst that can happen is the game doesn't recognise the texture file and doesn't list it in the buildings editor tool. The model files ought to work though as long as they're in our .atm format. Even if the files are broken it will show them in the list if they have the right file extension.

The only other thing I can think of is that your system is set up to hide file extensions, and what you think is for example "texture.bmp" actually has a different file extension.

My money's on the world/clients folder difference, though. Post again if you're still having troubles.

I figured it out thank! :D But now I don't know how to make my schools teach certain jobs, would it be under item production in the buildings editor? And how do you creat Buildings owned by jeahova?(or however you spell it)

Excellent (you're on the way - but it's a long, long journey :)

Unfortunately I have no idea how schools or jehova-owned ("government") buildings work. Zar, or some other world owner... could you help out?

I figured out the school skills. But I have the school on government money, but when I go to put in a salary it says not enough investment to employ. Sorry if I'm asking too many questions again...

I'm 15 trying to juggle school, hockey=stay in town until 10PM , so I only get a few hours to tinker with this. Usually from 10PM to 1AM I work on my planet.

And can I put this planet in the galaxy even if its not finished?

oh, and can you host planets with a wireless linksys router? I know there is the manual for it but does it include what I have?

Again, can't help with that stuff, but someone else will be able to.. don't worry about asking questions (if they're sensible ones :]) - that's what the forum is for.

Yes. If you run the world server, then launch the client, then land on an "unknown" planet, you'll claim that planet for your world. It'll stay there as long as your world is running (actually for a bit afterwards as well, but eventually the "unknown" will become unknown again when you turn the world off). It's best to wait until you've got the world more or less done, just so players don't turn up and have nothing to do... but then again, you always need people to test the place so by all means have a go when you're ready.

Yes... but you might have some fun getting it to work. The guide on TUWR is designed for linksys routers, I believe.

When I get to the router set up page, and go to advanced routing there is no port forwarding. There is only this :

Select set number:

Enter Route Name:
Destination LAN IP:
Subnet Mask:
Default Gateway:
Interface:

Are theses where I enter my external IP, my router IP, and Planet IP?

No idea - doesn't look like it to me, though. What's the model of your router?

It probably isn't port forwarding setting, because it lacks an important field : the actual port number to forward :)

Does that mean I can't have my own planet? or what do I need to do to get this right.

I'm using a Linksys wireless - G USB adapter to get internet on my computer from my parents. The main router (on my parents computer) is a Linksys Wireless - G broadband router.

model # or code is: WRT54G

The site is using this version:

Firmware Version: v1.00.6

I think you need to do a tiny bit of research: 5 seconds in Google produced stuff like this:

ok Ive gotten this far:

Port Range

Application ----Start--End --Protocol-------IP Address------Enable
Planet------------- 0 to 0------UDP----------192.168.1.0----[Checked]

I save the setting and it says range cant be 0-0 so i change it 1 to 1, and have my world port 1. Still nothing happens and after it saves It disappears. So what am I supposed to do? I'll try and get a screen shot .

That's the sort of thing, yeh.

Probably a good idea not to use extremely low or high port numbers. Try something in the low thousands (3267, I dunno - there are websites that list commonly used ports, just make sure it's something else). The IP bit should be the IP of the PC your world's running on. If it's not saving, um... well it's a router config issue, and I don't have that model. Maybe someone else can help?

Ok now I'm really in a jam. I got all the stuff set up on my router , and got the reroute.txt all set up, I have picked out an unknown planet landed on it, got it as my destination for my planet, but now I have accidently removed Andromeda from my gateway list..., how can I get it back.?

I still tried it one time with Andromeda and still didn't get a connection for my planet, should I just give up... every day I sit and fiddle my thumbs thinking of what to do. Each day I make some progress, but no results... Grr this is frustrating :!:

Does anyone know something that I can take a screen shot of my computer stuff so its easier for people to help me?
