Engine noises broken again

Engine start/stop noises are intermittent at best, and mostly seem broken. Engine noises either don't play or don't stop

mmm.. accctuallly.. i think the real bug is that the engine sounds were playing a bit too much :]
... in the test i did, i got the same results, (engine noise played indefinitely or didnt play at all, with the start and stop sounds never happening).. but then noticed that i had 'engine noise Fx' turned off in the small mode audio options - the bug is actually that it plays any engine noise when its supposed to be off. (This is fixed for client v0.51.7)
I tried all the noises with the option turned on, and all seemed to work ok.
I've also changed the default options setting, so that engine noises default to on after a fresh install.
