Hi,
i would like to take this time to say thank you for such a cool game engine, al youl people who made this. Now i have read the entire port forwarding guide, entire unfinished users guide and think i have the basics. i am behind a router and was wondering how come my server/world does not show up on the online list. i did everything in the guides, but one thing that mostly confuses my is the GATEWAY area under the server menu . File>gateway. what is it for?
i did a port forwarding thing long ago to the port 4000, but i tried many thigns and tried all combinations use dit the stickyed tutorials. please dont flame me or shout at me (shouting or forums) i did a few search, read nearly every forum and took my time. im not the type of guy who posts the moment he doesnt understand something. i actually read! hehe

Can anyone help me set up my server to be on the ONLINE list. thanks

I wonder what you mean by "the online list". Do you mean the FiPro list? The only worlds that show up in the FiPro list are permanent worlds that the staff choose to put on it, and we have to add them manually. So your world might be working just fine, but that doesn't mean it'll show up on the list there.
I assume you're using an unregistered world, and you've "claimed" an unknown planet by crashing into it while your world server is running. When you've done that, can you access the world? Can other people?

Yes im using uregistered world creator. How would others join my world then, do they have to get the infinite drive and randomly serch until they find my planet and land. i can join it directly from the server menu but i dont think i can from flying around space and crashing onto the planet.
Also, i saw "The Universal Stats Guide" so I thought that everyones planets appear in the list (now usually says 22 worlds online). The guides shows how to do the "Worldadmin Login" so i began to think that everyohne could be able to go on the Server list (main page on the far left)
Thanks for replying

Ok. As I understand it...
If you run your world and choose "my world" from the client front end, you're basically just running a local server with a local connection. It isn't connected to the galaxy, and no-one else will be able to join.
If you run your world, then launch the client, then fly into an "Unknown" planet... doing that will assign your world to that planet on a temporary basis. And then, yes, anyone can visit using an infimp or stardrive or what have you.
The stats/world directory is just that - a web page listing worlds. Doesn't have anything to do with the game itself :)

Oh okay I understand now. Thanks! One last question: Im not thinking of a deadicated server just yet, so everytime i set up the server, do i have to "crash"into an unknown planet everytime to get people to join. Or if i crash once, shut server down, start it up again, the exact same planet is still mine and still there?

I believe it'll stay as your world for a limited amount of time (2 hours? 12 hours? I don't really know) - but yes, eventually, it will "reset" and become an unknown planet again. The only way to ensure it doesn't do that is to leave the server running, or to get a registered (i.e. permanent) world.
Pre-empting your next question, we only give registered worlds to people who've donated a significant amount to the game's development, or people who've built a world so great we simply can't live without it.
In the meantime though, it's easy enough to make do just by finding somewhere new if your original "unknown" resets itself.

type !resetme when you're in space, and your galactic character will be reset. This won't affect any progress you've made on worlds.
