Noticed that, wonder if it's just this forum, or other phpbb forums.

Maybe invision is the way to go?

It might be a bot, which recognises the signup characters eh?

I remember reading somewhere a user account was on nearly all phpbb forums, ppl tryed to ban him but he came back, so yeh.. Dunno.

Invision is a lot better in my eyes, that's all.

it wasn't a bot... the user registered and then 5 mins later confirmed the registration by accepting the email then posted the 3 messages.

for the purpose of this site phpbb works very well as all of our user authentication for the rest of the site runs from it without any problems.

I agree and with Magic and the rest of the dev's they dont have time for more complex forum boards, PHP is easy, effecient, quick, painless, and very well code oriented with ease of customization. Open Source too.
