256 wildlife limit?

and the client will only display upto 256 wildlife.
it displays #1 first, then #2, then #3, then #4
so if you have all 4 wildlife set to 200 on the server, you will only see 200 wildlife 1 and 56 wildlife 2 in-game if your client is set to 256 wildlife.
Wouldn't it be an easy fix to change the variable that stores this information from a 1byte (storing only 256 distinct values) to a 2byte data type (storing 65536 different values)
Just noticed this and a that the executable theuniversal.exe is a memory hog.

keep in mind that displaying 65k of any wildlife unless its really low poly would REALLY slow down any pc. if you think its a hog now, imagine if it had to constantly calculate, display, possibly animate, and move around 65k wildlife
how is it a memory hog?
mines only useing 100mb of ram driving around sabrada. the game can even run on on pcs with much less ram. its requires a fraction of what other games need.
besides, directx games are designed to use as much of the cpu as possible to provide the best graphics possible.

Lineage 2 takes around 100megs.
It would allow 65k wildlife, doesn't mean you would need to put in 65k wildlife.
I set wildlife on the client to 255 and the majority of all buildings disappeared...
essentially i'm just asking why limit everything to 256?

Because it's enough. More would cause too much lag.

I don't think a computer made all the way back to 1995 would do so well trying to handly 600 wildlife, so you the sake of the people that have old school computers theres a limit. Sry for you old school people that have old computers...I'm just making a point...

Computers made in 1995 don't have a graphics card with 3d acceleration, so you wouldn't be able to play TU on them at all.
