I believe to keep a world private while connected to the game is to password it....and that seems to be a 'registered' feature(and these guys aren't exactly willing to tell how to register a world)

oops...made a mistake, under general options there is a place to put a password for a world. Why do you want to make a world for the 2 of you anyways(even though I doubt The Universal allows that[not sure so don't quote me])

making a world for the two of you is perfectly fine.

Create a world and password-protect it.

Then you can't run a world at all.
Go do space trading, and when you have enough credits, buy an infinite improbability drive.
Then ask somebody for an obsolete planet name and teleport to it using the abovementioned infimp.
In systems with obsolete planets, there usually also are empty planets in the same star system (they're called 'Unknown').
Fly into one while the world server program is open and it'll connect the planet and your world.
