0.48.2 - Unregistered worlds in the galaxy

From 0.48.2 onwards, you can connect unregistered worlds to unknown planets in the galaxy. Players will be able to infimp to unregistered worlds.
Your world's name will show on the client's screens (tho it will be highlighted as being a 'Temporary Designation').

To connect your world to a planet on the galaxy, just run your server, then find an unknown planet and fly into it. (Yes, flying into unknown planets is safe now :] )
Please note : make sure the planet says 'unknown' in *small letters* on the system map screen. (This indicates the planet has no existing connection link).
- Theres various bugs still to be fixed in the gal server to do with allocating planets, so sometimes planets get stuck as 'unknown' without a valid connection. If you find an unknown planet you want to take control of, but its not letting you link to it (i.e. the name on the system map is printed in large letters) lemme know and i'll manually reset it for you.

Your world will stay in the same place until either the galaxy server is rebooted or until someone else claims the planet. Other people can only claim the planet if your world has not been active for over 10 minutes.

will these worlds have working space ports that offer trade routes?

space stations, yes, as they do now.. well.. they do if you've chosen an unknown planet that isnt 'Lifeless'.
(The distribution of lifless planets increases as you go further out in space).

will there be a limit as to how many people can be on an unregistered world?
And do you mean that you will add more unknown planets closer to m-25, cirrus minor, and tau ceti?

yes, 4 is player limit unless its registered.
And do you mean that you will add more unknown planets closer to m-25, cirrus minor, and tau ceti?
nope, theres plenty of unknowns about, and with a (130cr) infimp distance isnt really a factor anyway.

I have been working on a planet world for a few dyas now and economy design
is looking good on paper but i cant even connect to it from my network to test it
and God Almighty forbid i create a second account so I can see how employment
or production is working

this game is far from a leading edge MMO it barely survives the playable list

with all the data and bandwidth the responsibilty of the world host
why is creating and hosting a world such a long drawn out process?

there was mention of claimable worlds in Tau Ceti which dont bother flying there
in Tau Ceti are 3 Planets 3 whole Planets 1 active but boring as hell Zoric 16
and the other 2 i can not say because they are never avail to land on

who ever is in charge of developing a player community stop reading the How To Succeed manual by the SOE SWG developers
the game will flounder until you make a place where people with ideas and talents
are allowed to demostrate it

new players can travel a whole 4 lyrs from entry
if they play for 10-15 yrs they may eventually be able to explore the worlds
out side of the 3 system within flight range
but if all they see for all that time is the worlds in those 3 systems
chances are very good they wont stay active

So far not one single step of world creation documentation has been correct
in every step it has taken searching forums and posting requests to get the real answer

try logging in game and trying to talk to one of the many always AFK people who might have the answer or find someone who always says its in the docs because frankly they dont know the answer and cant find the balls to just say it.

or production is working.

there is an option for creating dummy accounts that can be used for that purpose but the facility to do this has not been publically announced due to the risk of it being abused... drop me an email at enquiries@theuniversal.net and i will sort it out the info for you.

this game is far from a leading edge MMO it barely survives the playable list

umm yeah your probabbly right but with a small developement team which mainly consists of one person who has lots of other responsibilites and a life outside the game its hardly suprising.

with all the data and bandwidth the responsibilty of the world host
why is creating and hosting a world such a long drawn out process?

mainly because in order for the worlds to be as configurable as they are in order to allow the owner to make whatever they want it involves a huge ammount of settings.

there was mention of claimable worlds in Tau Ceti which dont bother flying there
in Tau Ceti are 3 Planets 3 whole Planets 1 active but boring as hell Zoric 16
and the other 2 i can not say because they are never avail to land on

basically means that others got there before you. worlds are a personal choice about what people like and dont like, loads of people like the economy based game, loads prefer the space trading and never touch a world. so its difficult to judge whats good and what isnt... new worlds are being made at the moment.

who ever is in charge of developing a player community stop reading the How To Succeed manual by the SOE SWG developers
the game will flounder until you make a place where people with ideas and talents
are allowed to demostrate it

thats exactly what we are trying to achieve but it is a long process and never possible to please all of the people all of the time

new players can travel a whole 4 lyrs from entry
if they play for 10-15 yrs they may eventually be able to explore the worlds
out side of the 3 system within flight range
but if all they see for all that time is the worlds in those 3 systems
chances are very good they wont stay active

Thats kind of the idea of the FiPro drive which ideally would be full of active worlds with good varied gameplay... if your world is running let me know and we will look to add it to the list.

So far not one single step of world creation documentation has been correct
in every step it has taken searching forums and posting requests to get the real answer

World creation documentation is being re-written at the moment but again takes time

try logging in game and trying to talk to one of the many always AFK people who might have the answer or find someone who always says its in the docs because frankly they dont know the answer and cant find the balls to just say it.

All i can suggest is post a question in the forum, the staff and the active players will usually respond on the same day thats the best we can offer for the time being.

we are always interested in hearing about this kind of feedback so if you have problems let us know sooner rather than later as they can usually be resolved relatively easy.
