That's Cirrus Minor.
Also, when I sold an Industrial Machinery to The Republic, the buy price decreased by 4.2 credits to 7.0, destroying the only trade route.
This isn't working too well.

EDIT: ARRGH stupid auto [/quote]s!

different planet types produce different sales and demands which change over time. As all the planets in cirrus are the same type (see 46.2 + client for the types), there'll be little chance for profit as they all produce mostly the same stuff.
Item prices will occasionally change when you sell stuff to it.. tho most of the time it'll be small shifts when you sell an item that is much in demand there. They'll also change as the planets produce and use stuff. It might be slightly extreme at first, while the production goes through its first cycles.

There are plenty of other (more profitable) trade routes available atm.

But, um, what about the newbies? They start in Cirrus Minor, and can't make any profit there.

y'all start off with enuf uridium and a stardrive that can get u to tau ceti...

as an example of the sorta trades ya can do..

republic, for instance, is a 'federation home world' which produces a small range of common goods 'cheaply' and generally has few shortages.

Planitia is an 'Advanced Industrial' planet - the name hopefully indicating that it will have a lot of industrial products (machinery, computers, metals etc) available cheap, while often having a high demand for agricutural products (food, water, organics etc). Planitia foodstocks are currently low, so its buying in at 0.4cr as i write.

Yes, but with the new trading system, the price has probably been changed. And if I'm going to confirm it, by the time I've bought stuff and returned (costing 6 uridium) the price will probably already have changed.

I have an idea. Why not change the prices at a pre-configured time each day?

each planet updates its prices every 12 mins or so atm.

Tho its possible the price of an item may have changed by the time you arrive at your destination, its unlikely to change so much that you make a massive loss on a previously profitable transaction. The sell prices of items jump up when theres little or none of an item left (as in the example u gave), but the buy prices are much slower to move. (If they are changing too widely it needs a settings tweak or its a special case (see below))

In some extreme cases, say for instance a planet demanded only 1 or 2 of a speciality item, but had none in stock - the buy price could be high and then drop significantly when someone sold 2 items there. However, most planets demand and have reserves in terms of thousands of an item, making wild price swings rare.
In those special occasions when thats not the case (of which there are currently none), that'd be the risk you take when trading speciality items.

In addition, knowing the 'safe' trade routes - (theres almost always gonna be a good price for food on an industrial planet, etc) - is part of the game, and something you'll learn more of as things progress.

p.s... ive done a number of settings changes today, including a new system for creating the initial stock values when the econ is reset .. The previous system meant initial stocks werent reflecting the supply and demand level of the planet, which means there'll be more weird initial prices than there should be. To make use of this change, i'll reset all gal prices & stocks tonight (you'll still keep your gal character and wealth etc) - that'll change a lot of the existing prices (so dont bother keepin track of em, yet) and by tomorrow you should see stuff being a lot more stable and a bit more profitable.
