1. Donate $100 to Mit
2. Recieve (probably buggy) server program
3. Make models, a bdat and whatnot
4. Host your world

you forgot to add the 100% satisfaction guarentee
if i remember correctly it goes something like this " we guarentee absloutly nothing besides the fact we will be drinking some whiskey with the cash you donated to help support the game  , in return we are sending you a probably buggy/may or may not work server program to try and run a Planet " ( thats not a direct quote, but from my memory) 8) but last i heard new planets were on hold until further notice

Ahem. For a slightly more official reply:

Our long-term plan is to sell worlds, yes. We'd love to sell em cheap to anyone that wanted one, but at the moment we don't have the tools and support systems in place to make world owning so easy a 10-year old could do it. There are often bugs, usability and other issues that world owners have to deal with on a regular basis. We used to "sell" worlds via donations but, although most of the world owning community has been absolutely fine, we've had reactions we just don't have the time to deal with from owners who can't deal with the realities I've mentioned above. As a result we're not selling worlds at the moment, nor can you get one through the previous donation method.

However: having said that, if you're desperately keen to own a world you should contact the dev team. There are no guarantees, but if someone got in touch and convinced us that they're a) not a chimp, and b) that they have a working knowledge of game design and server hosting, and c) that they have a plan for a world that'd work in the game universe as it exists at the moment, and d) that they perfectly understand the problems and limitations of world owning using the current version of the server software - then mebbe we could arrange something for a small consideration :)

In short, world owning is difficult, time consuming and potentially very frustrating at the moment. In future it'll be much better, but we've got a lot of work to do til then.
