I'm actually a little disappointed in you Jaye...you didn't even bother to get rid of the edge lines I left on the supports for the laser-focusing-unit...that would have been the easiest fix there is...
and I must say...you've created a texture that embodies hedgehog's dreary color scheme...

I'm pretty excited about my next upcoming model...it's a fully animated steam engine (not to be confused with a steam-powered-train)...and so far I've gotten the animation to look pretty nice...the wheel rotation correctly matches the rate of the driving piston...horrah!
but it's still a work in progress obviously...

I don't really like modeling machine parts it turns out...and unfortunately the texture did turn out kind of dreary...but it is a hunk of metal after all...
Steam Engine and
Texture
Also I think the chat server needs a reset or something...I have the vague feeling it's not completely registering my existence...when there 16 people on and not a single person is in any of the usual chat channels you know somethings wrong...

So...is anyone ever going to make a model request of me or am I completely free to make stuff for my own purposes?

If i ever get Accura running, i was hoping that more "Future Models" would be released by someone. There is only a few at the moment and not enough for even a small econ. Look at buildings like The Senate from Star Wars or The Senators Apartment from Episode 2. They are quite good buildings and i think they would be quite nice in-game.

I'm not sure what your talking about. I didn't spend more than an hour on this. Just slapped some stuff on and tried to make it look a bit more impressive.
[ Ego Alert: Code Red ]
If anything you should be praising me for taking time out of my busy schedule to even look at it. Psssh... dissapointed.

I was just messing with you Jaye...*gets down on his knees and praises Jaye above all others*
Star wars buildings...sounds interesting...I'll take a look...
hmmm...I can't find a picture of the apartment you speak of...do you have one?

i can think of several worlds that could make use one of these to use as a lower level slow vehicle instead of a car. since cars are typically fast, they generally don't fit to well as a slow, low level vehicle.
a 1911 AVERY 40 Steam Traction Engine. it was used on farms to plow large fields that were too densly over grown to use horses on. i was planning to make a nice aniamted one, but its really low on my list of models to make since its not something i need for either sabrada or ciroz. as for the size of it, the boiler sits 7 ft off the ground, overall its probably 10-12ft tall.
you might even be able to modify your steam motor model to fit as part of this.

Hey, fhko, I know you said you didn't want to texture anyone else's models, but how about just a template for the texture? If I can get a template for a model I can make the best texture you ever did see. It's just that no matter how hard I try, I can't get a template that works.

If you want templates for any of the 'official' game models - ie, stuff I've made - just ask and I'll send 'em over.

I know thats a lot and looking at them closely, they look kind of hard. But hey, you get the idea of what i mean by futuristic, right?

That's one wicked looking tractor zar
...I'll look into vehiclifying my current model...
-----
onionguy, did you have a model(s) in mind or do you just want me to pick one of the thousand or so at random...
-----
looks like the key to 'futuristic' buildings lies in the use of smooth exteriors...lol did you actually look at that LiMerge building...they put on all the levels above spots where they weren't even finished with the thin exterior...so much for
advanced civilization
I'll try to copy some of the more physically sound architectural designs...

I recently made a bison model (working on animating it), and just having it brown doesn't quite cut it. If you're willing to do it, I'll send you the atm/3ds/whatever you need as soon as I can.

I can do it from a .3ds easiest...will there be some preliminary UVmapping done or will I have to do it from scratch (I might be at the point I can handle it)...
------
as for those star wars style buildings....how's this...
Unfortunately it probably won't look this smooth after I convert it over
...but a nice texturing job could probably make up for it...

Thats because it fits the planet. Coruscant is a city-wide planet where buildings are built on top of each other.
Nice job on that model fhko, i like how you've mixed the two buildings together

Each vertex will have a spherical mapping, because until I figure out how to do the mapping, my Md3 exporter will give each vertex a spherical mapping.

I assume you mean each poly, or element.
Which prog are you using to model - Gmax? If so, mapping's easy. Well, not easy, more easy-ish and sometimes painful. But possible with a bit of patience :)

Do bones factor into the template? Because I know that on my first attempt to animate I had some bones sticking out and it apparently modified the number of faces when it moved, so I couldn't animate it. This one will have bones but they won't be sticking out.

I'm using Gmax. And the exporter says something like 'Blahblahblah 01: No UV Mapping Found. Writing out spherical mapping for each vertex.'
