I was more concerned with making sure it was linked to the other TU videos currently up...seeing as how I plan to further refine the trailer in time (yes, this is not the last you will see of this stuff)...then publicity will become the focus...

but to satisfy you, I did add a few more tags...

thanks for the input so far guys...you seem to be commenting on the text mostly (will double check spelling next time :))...any suggestions for the actual video content?

nice vid. The only thing i have to say was the game interface got in the way, which made a lot of clutter on the screen. It's not ur fault though. Good job on it.

P.S. the movie needs a little higher quality maybe, i dunno...

mmm it wouldnt be a game promotional video without showing how the game functions (hence, showing the game interface.

Things I've learned...

#1) after the seventieth time windows movie maker freezes up...it gets annoying...
#2) after watching your own movie thirty plus times...that blasted African drums music gets stuck in your head...and its annoying...(I combat all types music stuck in my head by thinking of the 'Monster Mash')
#3) you quickly run out of colors in the spectrum to use for text...so you give up and use red...
#4) You can never save too often...because of #1
#5) If you run out of ideas...just fade to black and call it a day...

I'll think up more later...

I meant to mention this early...if anyone has a music/sound file they think would go along well with a TU game trailer I'd like to have it...would make it seem more 'trailerish'...

think of it as a contest...one submission per person...nothing that can be considered pirated...

it should be roughly two minutes or more in length (or can be repeated to that length, such that it doesn't sound repetitive)...preferably no lyrics...original stuff is great (I would give it a better shot at winning)...

the prize...that I use your music in my trailer and I include your name in credits (ex. Fhko and Player X present...)...I also might be able to reward you somehow in-game...maybe godness on zyrane (as long as puggy doesn't find out :-) ) or space creds...although it will be up to the winner...

...is there any simple way to get models from gmax into convertible format...
Image
other than...
There is an export plugin to export as md3 files....those u can import in Lithunwrap a freewareprogramm, which can be used to export to .3ds files which the atm converter can read.....
I had a few hours so I experimented with model making...

Short answer, no. It's not simple. I'm not sure where you got that "quoted" method from, but that's the kind of circus you need to join in order to get files out of Gmax, thanks to the nice people at Discrete making the format totally proprietary :) I think I stated elsewhere on the forum that Gmax has native support for .3ds. Well, it does, but on reflection you can't export in that format... only import. Hmmph.

Last time I looked into this, you had to install Tempest, the (free) Gmax Quake modelling add-on. That gives you the ability to export as m3d (there are other Gmax exporters for that format, too). Once you've got m3d you have more options: sounds like Lithunwrap would be one of them. The trial version of Deep Exploration is another, I think. From that point you just need something to get m3d into .x or .3ds, and you're all set.

A good while ago we looked into the possibility of making an export package for Gmax, so you'd be able to export directly to .atm from the program. Doing that would take a fair amount of coding work, but it's possible. Unfortunately it would require the SDK for Gmax, which cost about £2,500 if I remember rightly. And since then Discrete has dropped all support for it, so... meh.

Dunt Duh Dun DAAA!...after a good couple of hours of trying to get some more videos for my growing collection I feel I've succeeded...some of this stuff is really good (although its difficult to tell after all the compression and reformating)...including a look at some of the new UltraKricket features in development...(*WARNING!: Smoking can be hazardous to your health)

...and my thanks to Mit who pointed out how to remove the interface menus...*cheers*

however...its late and I have a big test early tomorrow...so you'll just have wait for me to upload some other time... :D ...cruel aren't I?

if you hit the menu key (between the windows symbol and control key) it'll make all the ingame interface vanish leaving a nice clean screen.

And if you don't have the 'menu key'?
At my keyboard, it's [Ctrl] [Empty space] [Alt] [SPACE] [Alt] [Empty space] [Ctrl].
