Linux?

Post by denniz »

Hi,

The Universal looks very cool. I like to own a world and take care of it, instead of having a garden which is impossible in the flat I live in
I run a permanent server which runs on linux.
Sooooo, my obvious question:
is there a (dedicated server) Universal for linux???

Regards,
denniz

You'll have to talk to devi about that - last time I checked he ran a server ona linux box, but that was some time ago.

If not, just slap a copy of wine on and it should be able to do it.

either KnoxJoey or Kitchen was at one point playing the game on linux with Wine.
took him a couple days to get it working though, and it was crashy.

I have been running the server under Wine in FreeBSD a big while ago. I have no idea if it's still possible currently (the server had many many new features added since i've last done that).

In the future we may have linux and BSD versions of everything the game offers. But it's a load of work, and not especially interesting to do. So don't expect it soon.
