"The Republic" is my new economy world, designed to vaguely resemble the gameplay in "civilisation".
The use of two new features will make this world particularly different than your standard economy world..
1) Wages will be paid daily. Products will not be made unless a building has staff. Employees will not be paid if the building is not able to produce.
As well as allowing players to start making money thru jobs immediately (rather than having to wait for months), this also makes "good" employees (i.e. those who actually stock the building with products it demands) more valuable and makes it easier for employers to control their investment. (They'll no longer be paying wages unless the employee has actually 'earnt' the wage by producing goods for them)
2) A research system will be included. A limited set of buildings will be available initially, with the world's inhabitants needing to build up research points to open up new building types and skills.
Initially, you'll have to discover basic things such as 'Agriculture' and 'Writing' which eventually will lead to being able to build farms, vehicles, aircraft, etc etc. Until you've got farms, you'll need to hunt wildlife for food.
No promises when it'll start up - any date i give is invariably wrong - but im hoping within a couple of weeks at most.
The Republic - a few details
its next on my list after this one. I think the wage and economy setup i have in mind for this new one are such a vast improvement on the old system that i consider it top priority to get it used. (Tho no-one else agrees apparently :] ). Once ive got that running i'll put zion back up in a distant corner of the galaxy :]
