zoric status

hey zar, can you give us an update on the status of zoric. what galaxy will it be in?
i'm having zoric withdrawal symptoms, need a fix!

dunno bout status, but it'll be in Tau Ceti - Gyruss will also move there shortly, Tau Ceti being a 'Traditional Economies' star system in v0.1.33.

sounds good but will Tau Ceti be the beginning system for new players ?
just thinking it might be easier for new player to learn building etc.. while not having to worry about being shot at :P

cirrus is the beginning system and will have simple planets like biplane world.

as for zoric status, i got no clue. i can't extract anything off the old drive. will have try to do an extraction off a different busted drive (which just reminded me that i'm trying to extract off the wrong drive :roll: )

luckily i had uploaded my whole model collection for leig to download, so atleast i diden't loose most of my models.
so will try the other busted drive and maybe will be able to get some zoric stuff off that one.

The character select screen for a new player (updated for v0.1.33) will allow you to choose tau as starting system - indicated by a note describing the 'long-term economic nature' of the planets there.
The default character will start in Cirrus, where there'll eventually be Newbie World - a world with low prices and rapid decay where ppl can build freely to get used to the interface and concepts. Cirrus in general will become a system aimed mainly at ppl new to the game, using planets that should hopefully demonstrate the power and potential of the game while also allowing players to more easily get to grips with the various features.

mit, i've been slowly developing a hands on tuturial world if you want it in cirrus minor when its finished. its still early in its development though since i've only been working on it when i had nothing more interesting to do.

main plan for it so far:
you'd start in one corner of the map, thierd be a sign saying basic stuff (controls etc). you would start with 100s and 10 Tokens. the sign would tell you how to move and instruct you to follow a short, twisty road. you'd come upto another sign and a house. the sign would say to buy the house (1s) and read the message inside, message inside would say proceed down the insert colored road to the next sign, which would have a store by it. the sign would tell you how to buy/sell stuff from stores and tell you to sell the 10 Tokens to the store and buy 10 tea and 10 steaks and read the message in the store. the store message would say to take the stuff back to your house. upon approaching your house you'll come accross the sign saying to buy the house again, but this time you'll see the back of it. the back would tell you how to add the stocks to your house then tell you to add them and follow insert colored road to the next sign. after following the road, you'd come upto another sign next to a school. the sign would tell about skills, jobs and how to learn from schools. it'd say to learn the insert skill skill from the school and read the message in the school. the school message would say that after learning the skill, to follow insert colored road to the next sign. after following the road you'd come upto another sign with a building showing job available. the sign would tell about jobs and instruct you to take the job in the building and read its message. the building message would say to follow insert colored road to the next sign. the next sign would explain how by doing the stuff just learned, the player should easily be able to survive on most economy islands. it would also explain how many islands have different setups so they shoulden't expect the same rules of play on each island. the sign would also say to follow insert colored road to the next sign. the next sign would have a store next to it selling an item called Diploma. the sign would say that if the player followed the instructions correctly, they should have enough money to buy the diploma item. it would tell them to buy it and drive down the insert colored road to the next sign. the next sign would have a building buying the diploma item for as many sheckles is needed in order to get max creds from the starport. the sign would tell them to sell the diploma item and follow the insert colored road. after following the road the player would come upto the last sign, which is sitting next to the starport. it would tell about exchanging sheckles and buying stuff from starports. player would then exchange all his/her credits for sheckles and leave the island.
players would be wiped on exit and the map would auto reset so the next player could use it and learn.

other stuff i thought of was that the player would buy a space ship from the starport or a small stardrive from the starport to get them started in travelling the galaxy and seeing other planets

Gyruss is moving to tau seti? I dont have a startdrive and i can't go on biplaneworld because the downloads don't start so i just see a white landscape. Does this mean i'm going to be stuck in cirrus with no Gyruss or Zoric?

no. worst case you can just restart and then choose the character to start in tau rather than cirrus.
not that you shouldnt be able to get the 4creds needed for a stardrive even if you cant get on biplaneworld. (which as far as i know was fixed recently)
