my mom had that on her computer. oddly, adaware picked it up as spyware.
and oddly also, it did absolutly nothing to stop the popups from popping up every min or 2 from other spyware on her computer.

after removal of it and other spyware, thier has rarly been a popup on her computer.
and the ones that do pop up, don't load due to the simple hosts file that i installed on the computer.

a hosts file is truly the way to go for stoping ALL ads, includeing banners.
it takes no resources, doesen't make noise, completly free and is easy to instal
the only thing it does is sit on your hard drive taking up less then a meg of space.
and from that little 500kb file, comes the words "Page Not Found" in almost every banner or popup.

i personally use firebird, so popups are no longer a concept, and googlesearching is built right in.

noads isn't the worst freeware popup blocker. it's not the best either compared to mozilla's built in functionality though :]

noads isn't particularly. mozilla is, definitely. then again it also ads tabbed browsing, really good cookie handling, magnificent interface tweaking, etc, etc, etc.

the best feature however is that it doesn't quite load the gameislands.net homepage up quite well. i consider this a feature :]

the forums look exactly the same unfourtunately.

Sitting in it now, and the text box don't look too pretty. Hell, it's something to work on. Oh, and it seems Mit's (Flash?) menu for the top o the page don't work too goo.d Mebbe I'm missin a plugin. Tabbed browsing kicks chubby arse, tho.

While on the subject of web popups, my favourite commercial-but-have-a-free-version browser Opera can be fine tuned about what to do with popups, options are :
- allow all
- forbid all
- open in background only
- only open requested popups (those you clicked a link to on your own will)

The last one's my favourite.
