'Long term' economy??
'Long term' economy??
Zoric 8 ran for about 10 days, Gryuss was just starting to look good but now you need a password. Should i bother to even start another 'long term' game? Seems likely to end more abruptly than the name would suggest...
Well Zions been up for .. um.. 6 months now and never really had any major problems, cept a loss of about a weeks play sometime back in july. (Tho obviously its hardly pushing the boundaries of activity :] ) Before that, previous zorics ran for many months, as did Device's Apocalipsworld, my original Aramathea and even if you wanna go way back, Muridae lasted a good few months too.
Hedge's forthcoming RB5 is apparently planned to last 'for a year'.
Gyurss is new, with a new owner running a world for the first time, so ya do haveta expect a few 'teething' problems. Zoric, unfortunately suffered from hardware problems that are impossible to predict.
Obviously you aint been on at the best time for stable long-term economy games, and with a little independent title like this thats run by players and volunteers, you do have to accept the possiblity of some servers not always goin the distance - Theres certainly no guaranteed level of service. If you're not willing to put up with that risk, then, well, the simple answer is no, its probably not worth it :] Go play everquest. (or whateva it is the kids are doin these days.)
If you are willing to perservere tho, you'll probably soon recognise that this sort of intermittent service is the exception rather than the rule. Amazingly.
