Galaxy downtime

Post by Fooli »

Advanced notice of galaxy downtime: the galaxy server will be down from Sunday 5th til Monday 13th September. Why? The current custodian of the galaxy is going on holiday, that's why :) Moving it to another location would need a client update and would probably take the best part of a week just to sort the routing out, so we'll do without for a few days. While it's down you'll still be able to access worlds from the quick play list.

Biplaneworld will be offline from Sunday 5th til Weds 8th or so, at which point Mit should have his new DSL sorted and you'll be able to play on Biplaneworld and Zion as normal. After a lengthy battle with malignant hardware Zaroba seems to have sorted Zoric, which is now up again for long-term economy goodness. And maybe we'll see a new Hedge world in the near future, who knows?

Share and enjoy.

just noticed that during that gal downtime, the gal client will be useless completly.
can't get to the quick play list without the client going threw the galaxy connection.
so thier will be no quickplay.
only hope is that nobody has trouble with the reg tractor client.

Er, yeh Zar - sorry, I meant worlds could be accessed from the Tractor client worlds list, not the Gal client quickplay list.

Galactic shutdown in T-120 minutes.... 119... 118.... :)

would be nice if we could have a

gotoworld [ip] [port]

command for use only when the gal is offline., least we would be able to get to our own worlds then :)

yeh if "04 mode" worked but you couldn't make any galaxy money or fly around or get galactic items, that'd prolly balance it out fair enuf i s'pose?

Ya can get to a world hosted on your own machine with the 0.1.32 gal client without requiring the galaxy.

I'll look into a *gotoworld command like that for Ops etc later (doin it publicly kinda defeats the point of the galactic economy).

In a shower of sparks, with an awful grinding of unseen machinery, the galaxy shuddered back into existence, and all the stars came on again.

Go run those worlds in a normal connect-em-to-the-galaxy kinda way, sorta thing. The gal server's back online :)
