Post by morbydvisns »

Player told me that they are able to dump 500 and 1k piece steel loads into the export.

Been like that since the very first zion. lol

If not for the export, no money would come into the economy and the economy would become stagnate because there is no other use for steel besides making vehicles. Once everybody has a vehicle, steel production would become useless if the export didn't buy much of it. Most players wouldn't have a reason to own a building because the export would always be full with players trying to sell stuff. Ore would then suffer as well because without the ability to sell steel, people don't need ore. Only the fuel market would survive because people need fuel. But without the need to drive around (do to lack of being able to sell anything) they wouldn't need fuel so that market would suffer as well.

Carbon Fiber is a prime example of this. How many Carbon Fiber buildings do you remember there being during Zion 2? and how often did you see them? the answers are 1 and not very often. Why? Because it was only needed by me to make hovers and helis. Once everybody had one, it was not needed at all. So a carbon fiber fac was built, I would stockpile a bit of it (usually 1-2k), then the fac would get demolished and the stuff I saved up would last 1-2 months.

Limit or remove the export and steel/ore would be like that as well.

I understand the benefit of an export. The ability to just log in every day and dump a couple factory loads of steel into the ocean, easily making near 1k a day is counterintuitive to the idea of a slow moving economy as the game is described to be. If Mit intends for it to be a bottomless pit to dump things in to at whatever rate they can make it, then the building stock limit advertised in the building needs to be changed to reflect that intent. Previous variations of a planet setup bearing the same name is moot to that fact. But simply as it stands, the building has stated a stock limit that it is not holding to, so the bug is either the stated limit or the unlimited nature of the building. Either way you slice it, there is a bug that needs addressed.

not really just 'variations with the same name'. lol
Its virtually the same exact economy with the same exact production lines, except for minor changes due to game version changes. Ore, Steel, Fuel and Vehicles are the exact same production lines that they were in the first and second zion.

would be as if you just wiped the player records on ariya and scripted a school and bank because the old ones stopped working and added something new. Would that make it a variation? It would still be the same planet, just with a reset and an addition.

That doesn't change the fact that the building isn't functioning as advertised and one can easily net a grand or more every 24 hours by just dumping the contents of a factory into nowhere.

I am perfectly willing to accept monetary donations if you think it's too easy to make money :p

Just give me 90% of whatever you make via the export.

whelp, now that you got your wish and mit removed the export, nothing is selling. Steel mills are full with steel since there is nowhere to go with it, so they aren't using ore.
So ore isn't selling at all either. Since these buildings aren't running, they also aren't paying wages.

Now the only way for money to come into the economy is via fishing and new players joining, who only start with 10s. But, it will be unlikely for them to get a job so they wont be able to make money. Thus, they wont be able to afford cars or planes, which are the only use for steel currently.

congrats on killing the economy.

Lol, now that's some funny stuff right there. Show me where I wished it be removed. Mit's a big boy and is capable of making his own decisions, you know this. I spoke briefly with him about it Friday and he mentioned adjusting the export prices. Limiting it would have been the better option, and this is what I argued from the begining, so don't go pinning that on me. Truth be told, there wasn't much of an economy to kill, when a single player is just dumping production into it at retail prices or higher (and anyone with half a wit that understands free market economy understands this, you bulk export at reatail or higher than retail is fantasyland marketing).

Knowing Mit, he saw a problem - the planet functioning outside of the characteristics that he intends it to function and pulled it temporarily while he works on a solution. So, take a breath, put on your big boy panties and just chill a minute. It's not going anywhere and it's not taking any food off your table or anything.
