Course the difference between this and space is that space had safe areas where people couldn't be attacked.zaroba wrote:found by fearnick, can log out during a battle and it will cancel the battle.
would be nice if logging off during battle counted as a loss like it did in space, and auto-enslaved the quitter.
Good point mchale. Maybe a safe zone should be made. But I have mixed feelings about that.
If one is made, I would suggest for it to be near the campfire, and to include the water hole building and a berry bush moved into it as well. That way people will still be able to eat (a little) and drink without having to risk being attacked.
Then again, the current point of the chapter is to fight and if you don't want to fight, its as simple as surrendering when challenged, there is no health loss, and being a slave has no effect on your game play. People being able to hide in a safe zone doesn't help the chapter goal, nor would it be helpful if somebody with a sword were to hide in the safe zone to avoid conflict with others that have swords and only attacking newer players that don't yet have swords for the sake of gaining slaves easier without risk of loosing them. In this manner, it could be looked at as being a worse loophole then using specmode to locate people when the map is disabled, since that requires you to know the layout of the island.

Although, surrendering only prevents you from being attacked by that tribe, anyone else could still attack you, so that doesn't really help.
And if there was a safe area, the people hiding there might not help the chapter, but they won't harm or slow it down either. Even if there was no reason to venture out of the safe area, and most people stayed there,, there are going to be at least a few people who would go out, just to become someone's follower so that the game could continue. And their leader becomes king.
And I don't see the difference with swordsmen staying in the safe zone, only leaving to stalk newbs, and what's happening now, swordsmen using the spec mode to find the newbs and unarmed people, and hunting them done.

a ez fix would be to just make it so u cant be attacked if u dont have a sword. that way a player without a sword would be safe no matter where thay r on island. no safe zone needed. and if u drop ur sword u leave tribe as well. that way u wont have players takeing a side and dropeing there sword so thay cant be attacked and taken.

hold the phone yall. before we start suggesting fixes with safe zones and all, we might need to understand how a king is chosen, and we don't yet know what it takes to choose a king... it could be that ALL players need to be enslaved or something... and if there were safe zones, or safe players, that would put a kybosh on the plan. so don't try to fix something that you don't understand how its supposed to work, please. thanks.
mode 5 collisions should make it harder for people to hide within models.

Thanks for all the thoughts and comments, peeps.
This does cover a lot of the stuff i hinted at in the battle posts about how this is going to need to take some time to be balanced .. for instance..
Another big missing bit is the currently absent 'Honor' system, which I haven't completely settled on yet but the intention of it is to avoid the need for a safe-zone while also making it less worthwhile for people to go around 'randomnly' pansy people off.
Theres the more obvious bugs (covered in the first few posts of this thread) to resolve first, then we'll move on to getting the balance better..
Won't take too long hopefully
Meantime, you may well be getting some special, temporary visitors soon, to lessen the pain and suffering a bit..

is still on the TDL and somethin i mentioned in the battle post 1.would be nice if logging off during battle counted as a loss like it did in space, and auto-enslaved the quitter.
