This is an odd little bugger. Not sure what is going on. If I stand with the campfire in front of me, with the sky in the background, possibly the henge test? And a player stands up and begins any walk animation, which redraws shadows, my frame rate poops out like mad. 3 FPS?
I'm running SLi nVidia Geforce 9500GT 512MB DDR2 x2
I don't see TU bogging those down, unless something horrible is at works with the GPU's or memory.
I think this requires further investigation.

Ok so with help from Mishka, and further investigation. The culprit is the Henge Test Model. The faces are inside out, which flukes the lighting against the shadows, they flicker as you rotate the camera around the model. The frame rate killer really only occurs when this model is first being loaded to memory(shortly after landing).
