Linux/wine compatability?

Post by lag »

So, I tried installing the game under sabayon linux 3.4e after installing m$'s core fonts, and the client connected, but once it launched full screen it was just a teal color inside the window. Anyone else get it running under linux? Anyone have any idea what linux is? :P

I know this is an old topic but the topic title fit right.

I got planet Claden running on a Linux computer using WINE.

I still havent been able to get TU client running properly.. i keep getting file errors mainly .bmp file errors. but thats expected since its on a windows beta game running on a linux computer.

Maybe a more stable version will work under linux wine.

just in case anyone was wondering why the great stimutacs disappeared as quickly as he re-appeared, it is because his stolen copy of vista became infiltrated by viruses, so now his computer is running on a flavor of linux.

Ive tried running TU on this PC with wine, chose the fullscreen option, and it does not work, kinda crashes the pc when i try to run it. I might try again using windowed mode later.

Just to let everyone know, the great stimutacs has serious plans to buy a new computer, a quad core, its sole purpose to run servermanager and other programs for TU world building.

please be patient while the great one saves some sheckles to make this happen. that is all.

or be careful what sites you go to and what you download.
why didn't you just reinstall vista or get windows 7?

it was a stolen copy of vista, i couldnt update. and i turned off the security controls cause it was such a hassle to move around or save anything in the program files. , but somehow it dispabled my firewall as well. coulda paid for win7 but linux was cheaper. just gimme a minute.

the site that killed my computer was "watchthesimpsonsonline.com" or something. dont go there....

Client is working fine on Linux (Ubuntu 10.04)

Post by zemunelo »

Ok even last reply in this topic was in 2010,
i can tell you that client is working fine on linux (ubuntu 10.04) with wine.
Did try only in space and it is working windowed only.

There is a clue about that because client is not working in full screen but you can do a little trick and set your desktop resolution on 800x600
(or more/less depending on your monitor class, mine has 5:4 1280x1024 best resolution) so this little window is very large and in centre of the screen almost like full screen client.

I did some travelling, trading and other stuff in space and all is working fine.

p.s. I am new to the game and want to say hi to everybody.
p.s.s. I am interested only for space MMO games and somehow i dropped here :)
p.s.s.s. English is not my native as you can see 8)
