DXD error

Post by Baladin »

Strange error i got when trying to open TU. I didnt really read what it said but i just decreased the graphics settings slightly and then all of a sudden it wont work. Not only this but i keep getting nview desktop errors too, where my Start Bar is completely unresponsive until i restart the pc.

That's weird but TU does occasionally have those kind of errors. Re-installing TU may work.

Well maybe. But since TU hasn't changed in over a year, while (most likely) your gfx drivers have, reinstalling TU is probably not gonna help. And if it does, what are you doing/what do you have on your PC, that corrupted the install that was working before... :]

Updated my graphics driver to the latest one, still nothing tho. When i opened up TU in windowed mode it was strange. The mini screen in the top right hand corner shows the ships movement however my main window displaying the chat and incoming missles, etc is completely frozen. I dont seem to have any trouble with other games.

Ever since it started doing this it seems like ive been having insane cpu problems with many games, i know it wont have anything to do with this game but maybe thats the thing causing TU to break. Either way im pretty baffled what it is.

have you updated your video card drivers lately?
or...if you updated them shortly before the problem started, try downgrading them?

since its happening in many places besides this game, it definitely sounds like a video card problem
possibly the drivers got corrupted and need a reinstall, or possibly have the wrong ones installed for the os.

if its an old video card, it might not be compatible with your current directx version or might be on its way out.

Well im not sure whether its compatible so my graphics card is an NVIDIA Geforce 7600 GT and my Direct X version is 9.0c.

Well i updated the driver to the latest one my card can handle, im sure its compatible too because I used the nvidia system scan thing to check which is more suitable for my card. Still doesnt seem to work. Im trying to think back to what I did to cause it to do this but i really cant remember.

That vid card looks a bit shagged to me. Have you checked the hardware? Fan working (if there is one), not huge clumps of dust all over it, no power cables trailing across the video RAM etc?

Updated driver, wiped every piece of TU data from my C drive, (there was about 3 seperate files scattered around which probably didnt help), reinstalled TU back onto my pc and it finally works. Thanks for the help. :P
