lol...zoric 23 opened a week ago and zoric 24 is now in the plans already.
so...ideas so far...rough ideas...just me, wes, and dabs tossing stuff out and chatting about it:
-a respect based system where you earn respect points based on the things you build, the items you use, and the skills you learn. high level buildings will require a player to have more respect points.
-very large map with 2 or 3 continents separated by water. each continent would only allow a different building type (industrial, agriculture, residential) to be built on it, so you'd have to travel continent to continent to do business.
-imports and exports on each continent
-the ability pirate players traveling by boat
-each continent being divided up further by respect level
-respect points forcing players to be separated into teams with special buildings to attack players not on that team.
-turrents on these continents to enforce the respect level allowence

zoric 24 ideas and plans
a few more suggestions...
-cargo planes and trucks with limits on storage space so that you must produce these buildings and vehicles to be successful.
-a "royal" castle that is owned by whoever own a certain item. That item can either be given, sold, or taken when that player is killed. the castle would give the benefit of producing some kind of luxury or maybe there is a havestable resource that comes with the castle that allows the player who owns the item some sort of power.
-instead of ppl living in villages, everyone owns their own village. so you must produce what you can and trade for the rest. only family members may live in the same village, there could still be a few towns that could at as a kind of "marketplace" to sell your goods, as well as Import/Export
-basic skills are cheap so everyone can get them, but specialized skills are extremely expensive so that in the beginning you must chose a specialized to take advantage of.

the 'king' type thing will be tested sometime during zoric 23. but it will simply be a thing where if you kill the 'king' a player var will change for both of you to indicate your the new king. then whenever you log in it will say your the king. the king will be able to use a special vehicle via an & command and be able to teleport between towns, but only if they are in the special vehicle. all vehicles will have simple weapons with unlimited ammo and the king vehicle will have no weaps and be weak.
going to make up the height map for the new world now and test it on an unregistered world, along with other stuff for z24.

more Ideas for you zaroba:
un renewable resources, when a resource runs out whole towns will move to a new source causing mass migrations. if enough money is sucked out of the economy and resources require ppl to relocate, then in theory a persistent world wouldnt have to be reset, itll just constantly be changing. Though you would have to limit transportation so that ppl cant skip acrossed the world in 2 seconds cause that ruins the whole theory. ppl will have to dangerously leave civilization to find new sources of their resource adding exploration to the gameplay.
I mean Zaroba asked for ideas and noone else even responded or cared to suggest anything? what the hell? but when someone mentions an alien space boat the community freaks out! As of right now space is boring, its like playing a rummy game in the lobby of a vegas candybar.

build an oil drill, get 100 drill power granted to you to put in which will have the drill produce 500 oil or whatever amount. then since the 'drill power' would run out, you'd have to build a new one to get more 'drill power' granted.
limited amounts in localized spots wouldn't really be possible though

I have relied on zoric as a planet to escape from the hustle and bustle of space ruling. I find it very relaxing to brew beer on your planet, zar. please bring back hunger and thirst and BEER!

Zaroba, if youre interested, I can make some texmaps for your heghtmap so zoric 24 can have different areas like deserts, ice caps, etc, like xebec. instead of just green grass everywhere.

Well what I really meant is to have like big rocks that you can collect minerals from and trees that have logs for us to collect...the buildings have a set number stocked and when they're gone players will venture out to find new sources, causing migrations, towns die out and decay and then your back to nature, and new towns sprout up elsewhere.zaroba wrote:unrenewable stuff might work. could have each production building need an item that's only obtainable by building that building.

Then you have your export/import stations around the world set up in small gov village as sort of pit stops as ppl are exploring the world. but travel has to be really slow to make exploration exciting.(not little dude flying around at 46mph and jumping off buildings )

also I wish there was some other system than just having a 25 building limit as on the current zoric. I wish there was some soft cap that got harder and harder to increase, but is never technically impossible to increase. perhaps your respect points could come into effect here or something. idk
