Weird. I'm in the middle of re-uploading the zip file; give it 10 minutes and try again.

I wish the world editor was more router-friendly. rly.

It's one of the most used internet devices around.

Translation: "I wish it was easier to set up a server" or "I wish I knew more about networking".

There's nothing different about setting up the world server (not editor) than there is setting up any kind of game server. It needs some knowledge of router configuration and networking, and a bit of understanding about the way the server itself works. The same would be true of any game you want to host on your local PC.

It's just the way it is: you need to be able to access and configure key things like your firewall and router, you need to understand port forwarding, and you need to know how your local setup actually works. There's always a bit of messing around required for any network app.

i have cable internet so it doesn't block any connections unlike some dial up and satellite connection (vinnashal has satellite internet and it blocks anything he tries to host) and some other type of connections.

router setup: i just used DMZ as an easy way to set it up. i don't know how DMZ means and im not going to bother. what it does is it lets a computer have full access to the internet bypassing the built in router firewall. im still not fully knowledge about routers but DMZ only lets 1 pc have full access to the internet (to my knowledge).

Note: some DSL/ADSL ISP providers block certain connections to the computer (hosting programs or p2p file sharing programs)

i hope i got that right.

Dial Up and satellite connections are the worst internet connections to have.

I've already done the port fowarding crap and all the other crap that comes after it countless of times. I have already accepted my defeat, my router has defeated me.

Besides, I can't run a world server on a 3gb capped DSL connection, I'll reach the cap before the end of the month!

I think the hard work for setting up a server on this game is not worth it. That is just my opinion.

And now if you excuse me, I'm going to buy myself a new car (finally).

the world server rarely uses more than 1KB/s (after all the models and textures has been downloaded by the players) its usualy around 200bps to 800bps (bytes per second)... it would take months for it to use up 3gb..

if you get your planet online just convert the .bmp (uncompressed) texuter files into .jpg (compressed) set the .jpg to around 80% to 100% quality just make sure you dont make the .jpg bigger in size than the original .bmp file. to reduce in bandwidth usage when players are downloading textures and models

for example the HD texture i made for the Zion Hovertrans (Lamborghini Countach) the original texture was 256x256 .bmp 193KB and my HD texture 1024x1024 .jpg 192KB the 1024x1024 in .bmp format would take up 3MB

could upload all the textures and models for everything to a website and link the world with it.
then players would download from there without risk of using up your bandwidth.
