Hello mit, nice new forums, hard to get used to, but i adore custom avators
So about 05. Its starting to seroisly bother me how this is going to be achieved as such, islands all connected right?
If i remember the post that is
Could you explain how such a system would work. becuse I keep going over it and over it in my head is to how it could be maintained?
Will we just be able to walk to another island?
what if our charicters exeeds 10000000s? theres a limit to screen resolution I belive
Will there a be a large scale map system eventualy?
And buildings limits?
settings and vehicle differances?
so many settings clashes eek
Its all to confusing how islands being connected will be accheved, maybie you could explain mit and eleviate some of my worries?
Thanks.
About 05
i haven't heard too much about it, but i would wager 99% of it would still be island specific. persistent inventory and sheckles, aye, but everything else (building limit, vehicle settings, etc) would be island-per-island.
let's say you're in eville, and the limit is 7 buildings, and you have 7. then you walk off and find a portal to lonely island, and that's got a limit of 9 buildings. you can then make 9 more buildings in lonely (but are still stuck with the seven you have in eville, etc).
say you had v2 in your inventory. it's a plane on eville and a boat on lonely. it would still appear as such depending on which island you were in. it would probably be important to either lock v1 as a standard model within the game, or for island owners to recognize the wisdom in making v1 a fairly standardized setting / model.
the only thing i'm wondering / concerned about is the registered islands ability to rename items. as it stands i guess you have 30 "steaks" in eville, and 30 "juicy steaks" in lonely, and 30 "batteries" in unfairness (providing i'd renamed steaks to that i guess.)
as for job payment, perhaps there'll be a built-in limit, or it'll remain island-specific as well for the time being.
all completely hypothetical, but that's how i personally imagined it anyway.

The version that'll be coming up next won't have economic or character interconnected-ness between islands, thats still some way off yet unfortunately. All it will really do is change the way you get to the islands - But I think for this next vers the best answer is just 'wait n see'. :]
And ultimately, all ya really need to see how it will work is to change the word "Island" to "World" and the word "Town" to "Island". So, as in the current version, where you join an island and you can travel from town to town building stuff here n there, so will you be able to join a world and travel from island to island building stuff here n there.
Your character and building data will be stored on the world, so you'd have the same money and same inventory no matter which island u were currently on.
There might be slightly different settings and things from island to island, but they will all stick to the basic set of rules for each world.

Vehicles
I'm interewsted to see how vehicles would work in this system - Seeing as how Vehicles seem to be used to express an Owner's individuality. The only way I can think of it working, would be to make it only change the vehicle once you type *vehicle #
That way if you're flying to an isle, you won't suddenly drop into Sarge and die if water damage is on.
Ah well. It'll be interesting to see, anyway..
