The game simlutes both and I don't find any particular reason why it should diss one of them when many other games simulate even more.

What makes this game so unique is that you can create your own planet, with a few exeptions (*cough* me *cough*).

But the game simulates pretty well both and I don't see why they should merge, it's ridiculous.

Instead of dissing one of them, we should improve them and link both of them so they depend more on each other and not totally being independant.

What i mean is that is that some peoples just wanna play around in worlds and others just explore and trade tru the space, like u cant go to the most part of the planets without and Infite drive, i think the player should start with it or they could just jump to the planets on the 1 screen, i realy dont like stayng fooling around in deep space but i have too, anyway just a point of view

I'm sorry but I once again disagree. Having to purchase the infimp drive permits players to atleast have a taste of space, by trading for it.

permits? you mean forces right?

forcing a player to experience space when they don't want to isn't exactly good when it comes to keeping players. a player is under no obligation to play the game at all. if they come on and just want an economy game and see that they HAVE to play space in order to get to the worlds, they will just leave and go elsewhere.

space could be a big reason why new players don't hang around. a new player comes in, sees the big dark space with few controls, and probably wont know anything about space trading, worlds, or infimp drives and think that space is the only part of the game and leave.

you can buy an infimp without trading, but most new players won't even know what an infimp is and thus wont even know where to get a cheap one.

Well space is part of the game, it's true they are in no obligation to play space at all, but in this version of TheUniversal, space and worlds IS the game, otherwise it would be A tractor again.

So if they want to play the would have to atleast have a small experience of space, because space IS the game, worlds aswell, if they are gonna play TheUniversal they must play space atleast once.

How about instead of dissing space for this, why not improve it? How about implementing an interective screen step by step guide like the one I requested on the feature request forum?

We need features to point this out, not ignoring space completely.

yea, i'm not saying space is bad. and an interactive space tutorial would be good.

but like you said, space is part of the game so players should have to play it and experience it for a little while, right? well, worlds are part of the game. nothing forces people to play each of the worlds at least once or for a little while so why force them to play space?

theres really no reason that there can't be both space and worlds and options for players to play worlds or space or both. the more options there are the happier a new player will be and the more likely they are to hang around and learn.

if anything, i think that forcing a player to play anything (except a tutorial anyway) would just discourage them from staying.
if people like space, they will play it. if not, then they will stay on worlds or just not play the game.
if people like worlds, they will play them. if not they will just stay in space.
if people like both, they will play both.

Nothing is keeping them from playing worlds forever, or not to play any worlds, they can play the ones in Cirrus Minor in the meanwhile, they just have to do a tiny bit of space and then worlds, it's a way to make players experience the whole game instead of just one part, this is very useful in beta testing.

Also finite drive should list the main active worlds, now it's pointing to Mechzone?!?!?! Wth? And The Republic?? Which doesnt even exist anymore.

Come to think of it, finite drive could be the solution to this problem all together.

i'm about to bring up mechzone and republic again.
there better on there then some of the other always down worlds

erm...looking now, i don't see mechzone or republic on the fipro.
but mechzone and republic would be better on there then the non-existent imperial and no longer running syv.

again, you say that some space should be forced, but not worlds. why not worlds too?
if you want to force space, then force worlds as well.

space isn't the 'whole game' so why force players to play space when nothing is forcing anybody to play worlds? you said it yourself, the game is space and worlds. worlds can't run well without players and need things tested too.

nothing will stop players from going to space if they want, just like nothing stops players from going to worlds if they want currently.

*cough*
http://gameislands.net
http://theuniversaldownloads.com/Atractor0518.exe

it doesn't list all the worlds though, and since it follows the finite list, if the worlds show as down on that, they also so as down on the client and can't be connected to via the client.
