Missile do not work or fire

Description:
This may not be a bug. I may have a faulty ship.
I was a distance of about 1800 from Syv. A player came to within a distance of 400.
I fired missile. Nothing happened.
Message came up in red and said I was too close to space station.

I went to the other side of system to about a distance of 1800. A player came within a distance of 400. I fired my missile nothing happen. Still have full lot of missile.
The other player fired his missile and I went into red alert.
Now I have 2 kills where I should have only 1 kill.
The affect in game is I can not fire missile where other players can.

Steps to Replicate:
Steps for me is go into deep space of a distance of 1800 have player come to within a distance of 400. Then fire my missiles to see if they work.
I will do some more testing.

Update
As above I can not fire my missiles using shift+ tab. Other players can fire missiles.
I do not know if this is an old fault or not seeing as I have been trading all of this time. I have had no reason to fire missiles.
So at the moment I is at a disavantage.

Last update.

Did some testing, in a cargo transport.
Test 1: missiles do not work when you are standing still.
Test 2: missiles work when you are moving.

So it seems you need to be moving when you need to fire missiles.

It is good to know that there is no bug or fault. Just need a game manual with all of the controls and how they work.
