Just a vague idea floating around. The same sort of idea we have every year or two. Shake it up etc. Introduce a level playing field following bug fixes and so on (not that, cough, anyone ever got rich exploiting bugs. Oh no :)

It's by no means guaranteed to happen at any point but it'll happen eventually. Last time we reset was end of 2005. Now we're approaching end of 2007... who knows.

When the galaxy is reset it has no effect on worlds, just space.

So all space accounts wouldl be reseted to 0?? All players wouldl loose their ships and records??? I really don't like that idea... I worked hard for what I have in space right now, and it wasn't easy to get, found many obstacles..... wich almost made me give up...

So I woudn't like all that to be deleted and one simple press of a button...... harsh.... I know it's not garanteed to happen anytime soon.. but what if it does?

it happens but its not so bad, usually when theres a reset the population of players goes up cause everyones racing to get back to where they were, so there'll be alot of action. so it wont be a total loss.

I still don't like the idea......... there must be another way so that we don't loose all we have!

why are you guys complaining?

you'll actually have a reason to play space again :P
you'll also have players who will actually provide a challenge to you when fighting ect instead of only picking on newbs in weak ships.

I already worked hard to get the rank I have now... and it's gonna be flushed out like that??? Those that want to be a challenge to me can work hard like I did to be one. But I already did the hard work... why should I do it again?

I don't like the idea of going back to that wrecky cargo ship..... I worked hard to leave it behind and to become what I am now.

so, you'd rather keep it how it is, and continue have it easy picking on weaker people?

hmm...are you afraid that if you start out on the same level as everybody else, people might become stronger then you and you wont be regarded as powerful anymore? :P

you'll still know the trade routes etc. it wont be that hard for you to get strong again.

Oh geesh zar you make me feel like a bad person....... I'm not scared of anybody and won't be......... just don't want to grind so much again...... I already did the hard work.. can't I enjoy my acomplishment as a reward? Geesh......

Know the trade routes? LOL! Just why do you think I became a pirate....?

lol, if you wanted to enjoy your reward, why'd you leave for half a year? :P

galaxy needs a reset though. all the powerful players are pretty much non existent, only logging in once in a while to hold there position (like you :P), leaving the younger players struggling to get over them. if players didn't resort to logging in once every few weeks for the sake of holding there position and accepted the fact they get deleted when they stop playing the game (heck, if your gonna stop playing, then stop logging in to hang onto stuff you have no use for) then the galaxy probably wouldn't need to be reset. at least not for a lot longer since the powerful players would die off allowing young players to replace them.

you, vinn, and a lot of others fall into this category. rich and/or powerful players, only logging in for the sake of staying rich and not even playing. thus causing lack of activity since the young players have no chance of getting over you and/or never see anybody else. perfect sign that a world (or space in this case) needs to be reset. it wont even effect any of you anyway since you guys rarely ever come around.

btw for anyone concerned, planets would not be affected by a space reset.

*edit* looking up, i see that has already been covered.

It wasn't half a year lol. But didn't I say the reason in my other thread? I had some serious real life problems to deal with......what do you want me to diss life for a game?

NO, I log in when my life permits it ok? Don't jump into conclusions coz you don't even know me in person. If I go it's because I got problems.... first problems then fun. You are quite making this personal right now. I support new players, I escort them when they are trading. I attack high level traders and all bounties ( no exeptions on that).

Don't compare me to vinn or anybody else in this community... because I am nothing like them and will never be.

Now I am here.. because I can be here, I love this game, I would never leave it for a stupid reason.......

Jeez, this place :]

Just to make it ultra-clear: at some point in the future we will reset the galaxy. It's not open for discussion - it will happen.

But... the main reason we'd do it, is because things have changed so much in space that it makes sense to have everyone start again. Ie, we've added new features, fixed major bugs. Mit had a plan to spend a bit of coding time on space prior to a reset at the end of this year, but that hasn't happened. So you're safe for now. But it will happen one day, and when that day comes there'll be a scorecard for that galactic cycle, and you can marvel at how your numbers stored in the galaxy server are so much bigger than his numbers. Woohoo!

One of the things we'll look at next time we reset is how we perma-reward players for doing well in the previous gal. There will be some sort of benefit, even if it's cosmetic.

And we won't reset without due warning.

Just so we're clear :]

no need to get all defensive.

I just notice your rarely around, yet never went inactive and lost your stuff. so the theory fit, especially since the theory is exemplified by pretty much every player in the game (including myself, logging into drellis once in a while to not loose my stuff despite the fact i'm bored of it and never play it anymore).

If anything, a gal reset will bring more people to space. I personally believe the gal is way overdue for one.
