Can't link my world

Post by Gavinbaisk »

I finally got my Static IP sorted with a tutorial which was using the same router that i've got at portforwarding.com. Anyway, I've began re-doing my world again and for some reason, no matter what client i open, i cannot see 'Your World' like i used to. I've tried landing on an unknown planet anyways but just get the message that my world server needs to be in the same folder as Galaxy.exe.

My World Server is in TheUniversal>Clients, and i copied Galaxy.exe over there too, so i now have Galaxy and TheUniversal.exe in both TheUniversal Folder and Clients. There's obviously something simple im missing and i've got a feeling its that the world server is configured to be needed in TheUniversal folder, so how would i go about moving this?

you have to start it by opening your world folder in the galaxy folder and you will see it load into your toolbar...double click tool bar icon for more options....but before that start the game and check if you can get into it. i found out you have to keep it on, the one in the toolbar that is. as long as you see it in your toolbar its on.

Yea i got that fine but it wont link to the client because 'Your World' never shows on the menu. So im obviously doing something else wrong... thanks for reply though :)

i think i know whats wrong...when you first open your universal folder thats where it should go. not in clients. the first folder that opens put it in there. remove the galaxy exe from clients as well. ;eave them both in the folder that has the uninstall files.

" When you're accessing your world locally, the game assumes that the world server and game exist in the same root directory. ( Program Files\TheUniversal by default). If you have installed the game elsewhere you should use the same directory for installing the world or the 'Your World' option will not work."

Ahh thanks to both of you :)

I had a look through that manual and from what i read, i thought it only depended on Galaxy.exe, so i copied it into Clients. Thanks though, I'll move it across now :)

Edit: Thanks for the help again, i moved everything across but im getting the old "Unable to launch world" error message again :(

open the world folder from where you put it and you'll see it open in your startup toolbar , then try it.

Yea, i do that. I even opened the game through clicking on the globe in the world server itself. I did get it to show 'Your World' btw, so what you gave me did help :)

Now then, just to find out what is causing this error, doesn't seem to be the port forwarding.

For the globe icon to work you need to make sure you have the right path set up to your client in the server too - General Options. It's a bit broken, in that it won't stick you on your world, but it ought to launch the client at least.

Yea it launches the client fine, just not the world :)

I'll keep trying different alternatives though, might be something simple.

You UniversalWorld.exe needs to be in the same folder as the directory containing your 'Clients' directory, from which the game (i.e. Universal.exe) is run. I'd double-check thats the case, if i were you.. :]

by default its..

Program Files/TheUniversal/UniversalWorld.exe
Program Files/TheUniversal/Galaxy.exe
Program Files/TheUniversal/Clients/Universal.exe

if any of those are wrong (or you have shortcuts pointing to the wrong directories) the 'your world' option won't appear.

there was a bug in the world installer a lil while ago that meant the UniversalWorld.exe went to Program Files/Universal by default, rather than 'TheUniversal'.. might be worth checkin you didnt get caught by that one like i did ;]

In clients i have TheUniversal.exe, which im guessing is correct over Universal.exe?

Otherwise, i think thats everything okay.

Just noticed that while TheUniversal.exe can connect to the world, it cannot connect to space, instead, server list appears.

Galaxy.exe is the exact opposite, space but no planet. Am i missing something here like a file? :?
