New Download Section at TUWR
New Download Section at TUWR
i'm tired of the download section at TUWR. its a pain to add stuff too, its a pain to add new catagories too, its a pain to find nice models on, its not that easy to navigate, its also a pain for players to match up models and textures since each catagory has models/textures named the same.
so i'm remaking it. spent half the day today retyping it and plan to spend all day tomarrow and possibly friday aswell if needed. it'll take a few more clicks to navigate, but it will be far easier to find what you want, easier to navigate, easier to download matching models and textures, and far easier for me to add stuff to which means it'll get new stuff more often.
To see how the new download section looks so far, just CLICK HERE. keep in mind that NONE of the stuff can be downloaded yet. it will possibly be fully operational tomarrow, if not tomarrow then definatly on friday.
i will also be adding more stuff to it. like plants, new vehicles, new buildings, and other things. i am also considering making a text only version for people on slower connections so they don't have to load all the pics of the models.
if anybody has any suggestions feel free to post em.
If you have anything that you want on tuwr, just e-mail it to me, or if you have an ftp account, upload it to tuwr. site: tuwr.net user: upload@tuwr.net password: upload

actually, i have plans to download all your movies from that advertisement topic and toss em in in a section similer to the picture area.
besids that, you could email em to me.
or if there too big to mail, i could always create an ftp account for you on the sie to allow you to upload em directly to the site.

Flame, if you're having some success reskinning existing trees... could ya post some screenies or somethin?
Trees are a total pain to model, because they rely enormously on the quality of the texture. It's one of those rare occasions where you sort of need to do the texture first, then build the model to suit. So I'm thinking, if you've produced any good-looking branch/leaf bits etc, maybe we could work on some new tree-stuff (bushes, plants, whatever).
Jaye too, if he's reading this.

if it were possible to get a good picture of a tree branch, that could be used.
model one truck/branch cluster and one plane. map em both. then copy/paste the plane all over the tree to make the leaves. to make various types of trees, just point edit the truck to make it look different, and change the leaf texture, then recopy the plane all over the altered trunk. the hard part is getting a good picture of a tree branch that woulden't need removal of any background stuff. it'd probably take hours to clean up.
but, if i can find a modelling program that can convert .spt to .3ds, i might be able to 'copy' some of the pretty trees in oblivionm . the textures are simple dds files, and it appears that most of the models use only 1 texture, or a texture and a bump map.
edit...
hey fooli, you use 3ds max 6 right?
theres a plugin for it called Speed Tree which can be used to generate low poly trees. with the plugin, you can also import .spt files
