Website Layout

Post by mystixs »

Hey everyone. Not sure if anyone remembers me. But, I do check up on the game from time to time. But in over 2 years the layout of the website has not changed. I admit it looks decent, but according to todays standard, the website lacks...
So, does anyone agree a new layout would be nice. I could give it a shot, since I first joined I didn't know much about website design but now I know A LOT more.
I could possibly make a website layout if the GM's and them think they want one.
What do you think?

current one works fine. it looks fine, and it does its job fine.
just because its 2 years old doesn't mean it HAS to be changes.

I didn't say it HAS to be changed.. I just feel a new modern layout would attract more players... Now a days if I saw this game with this layout and was knowledgeable about the internet I probably wouldn't stay long... Like the images in the banner, those could be Sharpened to look better..
How about I make a image of what I have in mind. If you guys like it, I can make it for the website.
This is probably just an excuse to make a new website, but this game has so many features that a programmer could go crazy with making a AWESOME layout.

www.silkroadonline.com

Or www.guildwars.com

I'm thinking Mystix wants professinal websites such as those... I don't think change would be necessary though..

Hmm, no, then I'd prefer the website as it is right now :)

Some things could be improved, such as direct links to the model library from the main page. (Other than the ones in Community news section.) Graphical upgrades never hurt anyone.

That's a lie. People with slow connections take longer to download the pages, and people with slow computers take longer to display the pages.

If we were talking about huge applets and embeded flash then I may symapthize, but images. This may have been an issue about 10 years ago, but not now. Can't hold back progress for stragglers.

I am remiss to use the language that gets people going, but in all honesty, the website is a total and utter failure. I didn't find the forum for a week, and I looked as hard as anyone would.
I suspect that there are many interesting facets of the site that I have totally missed because of terrible design techniques, and I feel that everyone, including the game itself, is being let down.
To the people responsible for the website, it's not that you like the site, it's that you don't have time/energy to worry about it.

erm...not meaning to insult you or anything, but you couldn't have looked that hard for the forum link if it took you a week to find it. its not like you had to scroll anywhere to see the link.

although it would be nice if it was along the top with Downloads, Help etc.
