Maybe the host did change the size... it's 600x300? Anyway if that was you rather than the host, then some advice...your textures should always stick to "power of two" sizes - ie, 512x512, 1024x1024, 1024x512, 1024x2048 etc. Anything else and directx will just rescale it to the nearest one anyway, losing more detail.

I wouldn't wish being the "textures guy" on anyone who wasn't insanely interested in spending 90% of their waking life producing all the stuff we need... But for more or less a first 3d model skin (I believe he's a graphics type guy in other senses) this is pretty astounding, aye. So, agreed :) I hope Jaye is interested in doing more stuff for us, or even just for his own world: anyone who can make my crappy models look nice like that is a find, indeed.
