Not too long ago, Holt posted a couple of posts which did not have any useful content, but did have a link to his site in his 'signature'.
I never said you can't advertise it. You can, but only do it when it is useful. For example, I advertise the wiki a lot by posting links to pages on the wiki containing answers to questions asked in topics.
