Ports

Post by Trikisatan »

Are there specific port-ranges that should be considered or is my 21666 port valid? I noticed that if I didn't set the port it would randomize at 3****.

Not that I'm aware of. I believe our usual advice is "not too high or too low" but I've no idea why. That sounds like quite a high number to me, but if it works...

I changed the port to something on 3000, now it's online and working.

Although this will work, a more secure method is like this;

2960

for your port range, normally add 10 onto the existing number so for this instance;

2970..

Try and use some ranges different than your other programs, like Bittorrent uses around 2882-2891 or something like that, best to stay away from those because your ISP will probably have limited bandwidth to these ports because they are used by sharing programs.
