You can usually find anywhere from 20-40 people online at a time. Its not exactly a populated game but it does have a nice community of players ( looks around for boggy :P. )

There are some youtube vids...there are links to them somewhere on the general forum.

Finally some appreciation for my work... :D

To answer your questions...
There are currently no 'friends lists' like some other games have but you can create your chat channel (by pressing ?setchat followed by the name you wish to give it) which you can invite people you like to join...

As far as how often anyone plays...that can easily vary from a little every few months to several times everyday...depending on what you like to do here (for example space trading has no sort of time limits of which to speak so theres no rush...but if you play a world and wish to get ahead then its probably necessary to be on at least a few hours every few days to check how your character and buildings are doing)

I don't suppose you're any relation to JasonX...

to see how many are on, you can go into the galaxy and look at the galactic map. it says how many are currently in the game.

can look at the FiPro list to see what planets come of them are on.

a brief summary of some of the average galaxy player stats at the moment..

we currently have about 500 unique users every week. Of those about 130 are 'regulars'.. i.e. those that visit at least once a week and have been doing so for a month or more. Theres also about 150 occasional players - those people that have been around for 3 months or more, but dont necessarily play every week. Then theres 200-odd new players each week, most of whom will no doubt look at it, get very confused and decide its not to their tastes. Can't win em all :]. Finally each week recently we've generally seen 20-30 people who've played some time ago but havent been back for a while.

The numbers vary a lot depending on stability of releases and (sometimes) on the amount of web-coverage and promotion we do on the game. (Which hasn't been much recently.. coz i wanted to finish some more stuff.. :] )

Lower right hand corner of the space screen you will find the clock - it morphs into how many people are on line at the moment.

I have seen it as low as 3, and as high as the 40's.

there is absolutly no reason that any of you guys who want to see the game advertied can't just go and advertise it with the ideas your having. so, go advertise :P

Indeed, as long as you don't make out it's official advertising. Cos we don't do that at the moment :) As we've pointed out, also many many times, it's very easy to get a bunch of new players into the game. Very, very easy. What's difficult is fixing all the stuff that makes it more likely they will stay. Until we've done a few more things we won't be doing much in the way of PR..

I've seen it when it was down to 1 player online (I assume it was me)...I thought it quite special so I even took a screenshot...

I'll try to get you a good looking game trailer...as part of my contribution to the ad usergroup...(if more than two people took interest in my work it would go faster)

What we need is a nice graphic image/name/icon thiny that people can insert on their personal web pages with a linky.

I tried to use the top banner but discovered its in slices...

I am telling you people this game has great potential
what I think we should do is tell as many people as we can my friend loves these space cononizing mini game types of stuff ( I still gotta tell him) but we need to spread the word about the universal!

I don't play a lot...although I do log in every now and then.
From time to time, some world catches my attention and I start playing again. Then, after a while, I play less often and less often...until some world catches my attention again, etc.

i'm pretty much logged into the game 24/7. but half-away most of the time since i'll have multiple clients open to be on several worlds at once but will only be paying attention to one at a time. or i'll be working on one of my worlds or doing other stuff on the pc.

yes, i can. it would be nice.
but, i can also imagine worlds with impossible to read fast scrolling chat and economies that end up going from start to finish in less then a month :P
players tend to log into whatever world they see the most players on. thus, that world would end up getting more and more players. i've seen 25 on a world before, the chat was scrolling 3-5 lines a second.
