Wiki
Wiki
A reminder for those who do not know maybe:
There is a wiki about the game that you can read if you're new and you can add to if you're long time player or want to fix something.
http://editthis.info/universalwiki/Main_Page
And for those who know, you can also visit, I just added some stuff. You will see on the main page the new links to Trading, Pirating and Bounty hunting.
Sometimes its repeating what's already in the manual or help pages, but the more places to read, the better and easire for new guys.
I also tried to find some pages that are not linked and link them. Like 'stargates' page was not linked and could not be reached from main, so I created the 'System' page (link from Trading), and now you can start at trading and read about Systems and Stargates as well.
And next time you create a new page, please put a link to it from some topic page.
I also corrected the stargates page, because it said stargates are always two way which is not true.
Feel free to contribute and maybe pirates will add more stuff to Pirating page. There are also many empty links that you can fill in, like InfImp etc...
As I saw, many in the game do not know even the basic beginner stuff.
Also a suggestion - a forum is not accessible to non-registered users, is it? I think it would be better to make it accessible (at least read-only) for all, put a link to read-only forum from tu home page, you know? Then many people will read it and have their questions handled.
I am just looking for all possibilities to make it easier to begin.
And yes, I am helping new guys in game too, but this is in addition to it.

I think it was just not known by many newcomers. The Universal site has links only to tuwr and universal stats. How about adding one to wiki as well?fhko wrote:originally it was mainly just me and the admin who really contributed to it...so I got bored and stop...but I'll add more if its actually going to be used...
i think its more an issue of people jsut not seeing any benifit to contributing.
afterall, look at how many players have made guides to help new players
another example is, even though tuwr is (i'm assuming) well known, only 2 other people have actually contributed to it (qwerty and freako). it has nothing to do with it being locked either, it says on the front page that people can send anything they want to contribute to me via e-mail.

me too. i don't know why either since nothing changed that would cause it.
they seem to only happen on pages using tables, and theres 1 error for each table entry.
but the main wiki php thats in the errors hasen't been changed since i moved to the current webhost way back in October, and the errors only just started a month or 2 ago.

Yes, people who want to contribute are scarce, we can do nothing about that.zaroba wrote:i think its more an issue of people jsut not seeing any benifit to contributing.

What we can do is provide all means for them to find you, and wait. That's why I am saying about adding links.
By the way, just added a link to wiki from wikipedia page about TU. People coming from there usually can and are willing to edit wikis. If they get interested in the game, we might get some more contributors
After all, that's how I found that game - by browsing wikipedia

in other words, Wikipedia is a good advertising tool in itself.Xorgen wrote:LOL...
