Pirate ships are not called "pirate ships" when they come off the dry dock. Pirates take over the ship and what they do with it causes it to be called a pirate ship.
For the cost (7500 credit I believe) and that with a the extra cargo hold(s) you get 47 ton capacity plus it travels in system at 9 it was a viable and perfect second ship after the cargo transport.
Right price, right speed, decent cargo capacity.
Downside is that everybody thinks because I am in a "pirate ship" that I am a pirate.
Prior to the new bounty system and Kill system in the course of defending myself I made kills thus when I returned I suddenly had a hefty bounty on my head leading to annihilation right off the bat.
And what does the trader's guild messages speak off:
Dude killing pirate: I just killed/attacked a pirate.
ME: No you fool, you attacked a free trader in a pirate ship... Again!
In "real life" you don't know a pirate ship from any other legal ship on the seas. You don't figure out you are in the company of a pirate until the pirate ship opens fire or boards you to take your cargo.
What would be better is "classing" the vessels out there:
Selinum Cargo Class.
Barsonium Freighter
Halycon Cruiser
and so on. What the people do with them is what determines if they are "pirates" or not.
Cheers
For the love of God change the name of The Pirate Ship.
Heh, I was thinking that when I was rebuilding that model (the results of which should be in a client update soon). The only problem is, we have the pirate guild membership requiring ownership of the pirate ship... I don't know how hard it would be to change that, maybe to "requires legal status of x" or something.
Anyway, as in the other recent discussion about ship models... it'll make sense to call them all something more generic (model numbers, funky names, whatever) when there are a few more available. In the end it's all down to mit, who chooses which model is called what. Anyway, yeh, I agree totally.

Change name of ship. I second that, do we have a third?.
Not knowing who is a pirate will put more fun and spice into the game.
I the sandgroper go by the colour of the player name. When I see red I do not hang around, I is out of there. Plus I keep records of the players name as well.
It dose not matter what ship your in. A pirate is a pirate, guild member or freelance.

maybe bounty hunting could reduce your own bounty, because usually (not always) the person with the bounty is bad.shorty38201 wrote:and what if a player who was a pirate decides that its not the life for him/her to be a criminal anymore? what if a pirate decided they wanted to become a police or bounty hunter?
