starsystem chat

Description:
The starsystem chat doesnt work in that wierd symbols keep coming up if i try to talk to some1. Example:

Steps to Replicate:
im not sure if this is only my game, but u only have to chat in starsystem. the chat server was up, i checked the gateways list when this wierd stuff happened.

doesn't work for me either, even with the latest version.

in-game, i just see blank lines. in small mode, i get the same odd symbols

mine wasnt working until i got the latest full install (version or 2 back), ive been running upgrades for almost a year until then.. something mit told me i might try to do, and it worked.. so, might be something to try if this applies to you.

what i said in the lines above that line.

try uninstalling , reinstall from the latest full install avbl.

You may have come around after that version i was on at the time tho, so this might not apply to you

i'm running on a clean install on this pc since i upgraded to vista a bit ago. same problem still.

comm chat, and system chat oddness. guild chat works fine though.

Alright I think I may have found the cause of this problem:
Some time ago I turned of the bad language filter in the game options....since I don't mind bad language. After doing that I kept on getting that bug. Just five minutes ago I turned the filter back on and now all of the space chat shows fine again, no flaws nothing.

I hope this helps all the other people who have this problem

Admins might wanna check the code for this bug

Apparently Magic can't replicate this fix, so there's obviously something else involved too...

Maybe its another option as well which sometimes causes errors?

It's never happened to me so i can't really suggest anything but since the filtering works for some, maybe its a similar option involving the chat box or related to the chat server connection.
