Ciroz Early Beta - Come and take a look at the landscape

Post by zaroba »

am pretty much done the surface texturing for ciroz.
so on wednesday the world will be open for all, any visitors will see proper ground textures, and can have fun driving on the roads. a few models will also be seen, probably not textured yet though.

am mostly doing this to get peoples opinions on the choices of coloring for the various areas and to see if anybody spots any errors i may have missed (its quite time consuming for one person to try and drive every road looking for the slightest error)

if anybody does find any errors, feel free to post about em here or on the forum at http://www.ciroztu.com

(the green boxes on the hill is where i'm thinking of tossing houses)

another town location:

a town in a valley:

cliffside road:

birds eye view of cliffside road, a town location in the distance, and possible future house areas:

exploring the dirt roads

the dirt roads weren't edited into the landscape like the regular roads, so alot of tweaking still needs to be done on them to make em somewhat realistic.

Awsome. *Stares in aw* .

Now why can't I do anything like that =(. It's hard to edit the Heightmaps. What do you use to edit it?

you can, it just takes lots of time :P
any resizing was done in XnView
99% of the coloring was done in Paintbrush (mainly to make templets for easy editing and changing of appearences)
the actual texturing was done in Paintshop Pro

i don't see how you can say that. you just click the pencil or paintbrush, zoom in a bit, and color what you want. its incredibly easy compared to things like paint shop pro.

that looks really nice. r u going to do something in which a person cant build on roads? bcuz that is a big problem with zoric. also, how will the cars be slow enough so that it is possible to drive on the roads but fast enough so that it is a way better option than driving?

idon't know if there will be player building allowed actually. might just be all gov owned for transfering. otherwords, it'll be with boxes drawn and build zones.

as for the driving, i'm going to try and make the vehicles as realistic as possible.

if anything, probably gov owned, but players can rent the buildings.

another thought i had was that the towns could be rented, and the town owner would have full control of the buildings IN the town, but thats not programmed at all. it would add an extra economy thing to it. town owners working to have there town make money.

although i know nothing about programming except how much effort it takes, to script something like that would take like a year. In scripting, easier said than done

theres already stuff in the game that says you can only access stuff based on team/famiily/town residency. theres also one that says team members have full control of buildings belonging to that team. looking in the settings, theres also a work in progress one for town mayor control.

the town mayor controling the stuff would be much more logical then renting, and was actually the origional thought on that (guess i said renting by mistake). if you took a job as the town mayor, you would have to keep the town making money or else the town would run out of investment and you'd be fired. then the next player (or you again i guess) could take the job and try to fix the previous persons mistakes.

going along with this is the thought of possibly letting players using money or something the town makes to build new buildings in the town. like maybe the town plinth makes wood out of x sheckles and wood is needed to construct new buildings. would just need a setting that states only the town mayor can build in a town.

Planitia gives town mayors a lot of powers too, like who can or cant build (as in residents or not) and the limit of how many building can be owned (again 4 residents or not). maybe something like that with those extra features u mentioned
