i would like to just let u no if u read ephi's forum in the off topic section well that's me ne was i did this because i was forced to leave the game just because the ip of a cheater matches the first of my 2 ips.
today i was happy when i found out that i could come into the game as x8b_mike i even posted a message to matt thanking him but then my connection was finished i went and bought a new internet card but i came in and what did i find i have a new ban called ban #14 btw i already had ban#5 and ban#13.
all this could be forgetten easily and i could start again after i format my pc but i refused to and preferred to take the hard way to prove that i hadn't cheated and i never did and i never intended to cheat.
if only tom had been here tom knows that am not homsi tom saw me and homsi online at same time many times. he also saw me online at same time wih that hr_man88 guy who has the same 2 first ip nu,bers as mine.
well am sad that wehn homsi was caught the first time i was reset with him just because he said my name withh all his other names but i wen tot matt who relised hs mistake and gave me back half what i had in the game i was very grateful.
yesterday i came in after leaving and deciding a new strategy with ephi who became a friend of mine but he betrayed me and just wanted me out i left the ggame for about 2hrs and when i came in again i found that i had a ban#5 which is a nic-name ban i was a able to brake it in order to c what happened but i got no reply till 3hrs later.
this morning i tried to come in as x8b_mike_x8b and to my surprise i wnt in
i was very happy infact more then happy but the happiness never continues as i said i mailed matt thanking him for this but as i already also said the net card fiished while i was in the isalnd(imperial) i couldn't go back home i went downa dn bought a new card 1 hr later i tried to come in and i found that i had a ban # 14 don't how i cheated i told matt to go check his records and c if i ever earned ne money from suspicious sales ..etc but i didn't get his reply.
plz ne one get in tpuch with me and plz also ask tom he nos am not homis nor am i hr

First, you're not writing a text message. That post was physically painful to read. If English is your first language there's really no excuse for that kind of catastrophic mess.

Second, I'd like to know if this 'other name' you're referring to is THE_KING. Because that's the person who came in a couple of days ago and admitted straight up that he was Homsi, he cheated, and he wanted to try again legitimately with a new name. If you aren't related to THE_KING/Homsi then this has probably happened because the person they're trying to ban has a dynamic IP, so the only way to stop them at the moment is to ban the entire subnet. This means anyone on the same ISP will fall under the ban.

erm, i'd like to see more proof firstly, yes i have seen mrhomsi and mike on at the same time.

i also noticed that MrHoMsI 's english was very poor, and mikes seems to be good (even if a little hurried)

it doesn't help that you have the same first 2 sets of ip's the same and knowing each other in rl, i can understand where the suspicion begins.

its matthews island, if he believes you have cheated he has every right to ban you, i would like to see you unbanned since there isn't much evidence to put against you, but ultimately its up to the island owner, if he feels that theres a chance you cheated i support his banning

matt if u find ne sales or buying between me and homsi plz tell me i would also tell u that there has only been one business between me and hr_man not homsi i bought a home of his for 250s because i was earching for a fully stocked home in high lands if u find ne other business between me and him plz e-mail me or im me and btw when i came in tomorrow i was really happy but when i came back on and found my self banned again i was hurt and that really..... to be continued

and as i said b4 if u haven't ever heard of dynamic ip it's ur prob and mrhomsi lives in my same cntry and uses same net service. and btrw am gonna keep fighting until i get it

The problem with you Matthew, is that when you find guys who have been using multis, you don't just wipe them and tell them to stop making multis, you just go and ban them, which doesn't solve anything.

By the way, Mike, try putting your words through some translaters, it might even make more sence

Er, hang on. Are the first two sets of numbers all you get, or is it just masking them and matching the full IP?

If you're just going off the first six numbers that's an entire subnet, which means nothing more than the people involved being signed up to the same service provider. It's certainly not evidence of them being the same person, or even knowing each other.

Indeed not. The only conclusion you can draw from that is that they are players who may be in the same area or use the same isp.
If that coincides with those players trading with each other at rates favourable to one of them in particular, or coincides with some of those players logging on from the same puter, then it becomes a bit more likely that theres something fishy going on.

The latest server builds have an optional security level setting that can be used to prevent some of these cases trading or exchanging cash with each other, without otherwise affecting the gameplay. Which i reckon is fair enuf even in the cases where they are totally separate people.

Separate from the issue of same or similar IP addresses, which can be got round fairly easily by the serious cheater, it is still perfectly fair for an island owner to ban or punish anyone they suspect of cheating, whether from similar IPs or not. The evidence for this generally shows up in the logs which list the chat, logins and transactions between players. And in general, personally i consider letting ppl on your island more analagous to the use of your home telephone line.. If ya get a caller you dont want to talk to then ya dont have to, whatever the reason. I think this is something that should be remembered by all the players of this free game, hosted by volunteers.
