Try clicking Help in this site's navigation. I wonder what it does :) (the space and world sections are ok... the other sections might not be that helpful)

Um, it does. Kinda. You make money in space by:

1. trading commodities between space stations. To do that you need a cargo transport (or other ship with cargo capacity). To start with you'll only be able to afford a cargo transport, and you'll only be able to trade the cheapest items - such as food and water. Check the trade report for the system you're in to see prices at all stations in that system, and do the usual buy low/sell high thing. You can generally make more money by trading between star systems rather than planets: to do that you need to use your stardrive, which needs uridium fuel (ie it costs more to make that kind of trade), so plan carefully. A good idea is to use your fipro drive to check out the systems next to the starting system, get an idea of prices... once you have a plan you'll need to use your stardrive (you can't use the fipro or infimp drives while carrying cargo).

It takes a little while to get going but - to give you an example - last time I played the trading game in space I made 180k credits in a couple of weeks of casual playing, and that doesn't include money spent on weapon, ship and drive upgrades... give it a good few hours and you'll make a decent profit.

2. piracy. If you kill a ship carrying cargo you'll get that cargo and you can sell it. However that isn't going to work unless you have a decent ship (ie, not the starting ship and not the cargo transport either). An option for the future.
