Game keeps restarting my comp

Post by BlackDevil »

Whenever i connect to islands such as Imperial i can play for about 2 minutes but than my whole computer just reboots for no reason. This only happens when a-tractor (new vers) is running. Is it a problem on my end or a bug in the game like it usualy was. Also if somebody is a knight/god on imperial please suspend my health till this thing gets sorted out.

Thank you very much.

the only time i had a problem similer to this with a game was once when i was playing sim city 3000 long ago. shortly after starting the game, the pc would reboot, the next day the power supply went out. if your power supply is starting to go bad and the computer needs to use more then normal resources when playing the game, the power supply might not be able to keep up with the power requirements and thus cause the computer to restart

but, i woulden't go out and buy a whole new power supply (even though thier cheap) just based on that. try some other games that would draw alot of power (like something that'd use the sound card, network card/modem, video card, maybe even a cd-rom or two) if you find the computer easily restarts when doing alot of stuff that'd use power, then it might be the power supply.

If it also restarts during other stuff (normal desktop things) then it would be the ram that is breaking down (normally only a few sectors but as soon as data is written in this sector the computer will reboot due to errors).

I've also had this problem while playing graphics-intensive games - plus, the lil' box that comes up after a restart (XP) says something about graphics, which leads me to think that the feckeryness can come from any angle.

Hope this clears up matters :P

I am sure it is not my ram because i have the highest quality ram, 1GB Mushkin pc3500 lvl 2 (BH-5 chips baby). It is not my graphics card because it is pretty new and it is a Ti4200 w/ 8x AGP and 128mb ram so that is fine. IT most likly is my PSU as zar suggested. I will be ordering a new PSU soon and see if it helps. Until than can my health and stuff be suspended until i order and it arrives and stuff cause it will take like a week to ship and stuff.

Thanks guys

just cause its new or high quality doesen't mean it can't be busted :P
its still just metal, plastic and whatever the circuit boards are made of (fiberglass?)

also doesen't mean a company coulden't have just labeled it high quality when it isen't, and lied about the cas etc

boards are made of silicon, by the way.

Try shutting down any non-vital stuff - see if that helps.

if you're using XP, check your processes, how much power they're taking, and the CPU/RAM usage. Just cos your PC is high-spec, doesn't mean you can't be overloading it.

How many fans have you got in your PC? What temperature is it running at? about 90% of lockups and reboots in PCs is caused by overheating.

Jus a few thoughts.

there are ram checking programms - some run under windows others are standalone boot-disks ... if you want to be sure search on google for one of those.

Could be an OEM product that has been labled as high quality ... so better check before you buy a new PSU :)
